A Railroad Anecdote
To All: "Jeremiah and me wuz surveying together for 2 months. He never said
a word. That is what I call good company." Pappy McCoy, Railroad
Surveyor, Chicago & Ouray Railroad
Jeremiah had quite spells. Really quiet. Usually, he had been having a fight
Sea Trials and Red Pins
I finally finished the track and wiring and had the DCC system checked out. All the shorts were gone, for now. I scheduled a small operating test session, named after MRH own M.M. "sea trials". I had three fellow operators come over and try to give the Splitrock Mining Company a good shakedown run. My goals were simple and I hope I communicated them well.
Michigan Southern Covered Hopper
To All: Years ago I belonged to the Private Roadname SIG. One of the perks of this
group was exchanging decals. This covered hopper is a result of one of my
trades that I lettered, painted and weathered. I still run this car on my
layout.

EOT Flags
A quick operational update on my IAIS Grimes Line layout as I've started using EOT Flags on trains.
Pueblo & Salt Lake RR
I had much fun with my Silver Valley RR. It's the route from module to module. It's the route from module to module. But there was one problem. With modules you have problems to get any grades. So I came to the idea to build a permanent layout in this room. It was the pdf-file from an article from the late John Armstrong in MR Jan 1962, "To Hardscrabble, the hard way: a track plan". There he describes the PUEBLO & SALT LAKE RR in a 11 x 12-foot room. This layout plan hooked me!
Rio Grande Southern #74 is back in public view!
I've updated my blog again - this time discussing the return of the cosmetically restored RGS #74 to display, after a failed operational effort and a long, slow re-assembly.

JL&T Railroad Blog - Layout gets Broadband/Internet...
Hey All,
Well first of the unfinished jobs to be completed for the JL&T since it's reprieve was to install the cable for the internet for the layout room.
Due to the distance from the house and the shed, and coupled with the shed being constructed with metal panels the option to rely on WiFi was never going to be an option.
So yesterday I pulled 65 metres of Cat5 cable through the roof of house and a conduit running through the backyard. And I only just managed to get it into the shed too.
M of W Building
To All: I like to detail the interior of some of my buildings. Most of the items are from
my scrap box. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St.Louis Rail Group Layout
Glue for attaching metal siding to cardstock.
I just read your information on gluing sheet metal to cardstock. After years of building custom models for customers, I have tried about every type of glue you can think of. From white glues, to a variety of super glues. Contact cement, works well, but your method of the double sided tape is probably the best yet.
