Railflyer - BEWARE!
I am just wondering if there is anyone else out there with a similer experience.
SP Rotary Plow Plans/Details
For years I've been looking for plans and details of S.P. rotary plows. I really would like to build a couple before I get to old to enjoy them! I'd like to build one steam powered and one "modernized " with traction motors with an F7B "snail" as a power unit.
Thanks for your help!

Vehicle Work
While I was heavily involved with this hobby in my younger college years where life is a bit more stable and time is a bit more superfluous than it is now, I discovered vehicle modeling can indeed be a hobby all unto itself.
Sadly, most of these pictures were taken in the Intel PC Pocket camera days...so they're a bit grainy!
So lets blow some dust off the old kilobytes, I know they're all here somewhere!!
EBT Fall Spectacular 2012
As you may know, the prototype East Broad Top didn't operate this year which also means that there won't be the annual Fall Spectacular. I wrote a 'what if' article for my website depicting a ficticious 2012 Fall Spectacular. All of us EBT fans are hoping that things get resolved and everything is up and running in 2013.
I hope you will enjoy it. It's at: http://royhoffman.com/pwrr/fallspec
Track radii
I have a couple of questions regarding track radius...
Joe had a superb article on track radii in issue 1 of MRH. Here's my dilemma.
My 1970's era HO lay out is a 19.5 x 14 L shaped along two walls with a turnaround loop at each end (for continuous running) One loop will be a 30" radius, while the second will be 27 or 28" r. It could possibly be stretched to 30 if I must. I'll have to put access hatches in both loops for maintenance and during construction.

Perkins spur - or a journey in HO modelling! Picture update!
Good morning,
Got around to finish soldering and connecting the feeders on the main, siding and NE spur this morning. In the meantime, I got a few pics of some progress.
The outside curve with a radius of 25 1/2", pinned in place.

I LOVE MY OIL CANS
today i decided to take a break from building stuff & do another test run with a tank train. a pair of kato dash 9's have the assignment. tank cars are MDC & Atlas. my daughter was the engineer for this run. she totally freaked out when the train hit a dead spot & came to a screeching halt.
the train is picked up just west of Mobest yard & passes through north Phoenix, south Glendale, central Glendale ( intermodal yard) north Glendale, Peoria & the Aqua Frea bridge ( a dry river bed)
Z-scale 1:220 video action on NTS 2011; Challenger with DCC and sound
Take a air ride and enjoy the action from some of the Z-scale layouts on NTS 2011, including scenes from Mr. Daves layout, Golden ~ Blackhawk & Central R.R. and 2 soundequipped AZL Challengers in Z-scale.
The video also featuring some more equipment running on the Bay Area Z-scalers (BAZ BoyZ) and Southern California Z-scalers (ZoCal) huge modular layout seen on NTS 2011 in Sacramento, CA, USA.

Perkins spur - or a journey in HO modelling! Another picture update!
Good morning gents,
Another update with pictures dating from the debut of September showing the progress of my layout. Some tracks, mainly the turnouts are in their final, glued position while the tracks continuing east have just been pinned in place temporarily.
Looking at the start of the runaround and with the diverging spur leading to the paper recycling industry.

Perkins spur - or a journey in HO modelling! Update
The brown lines are the height contour (3/4") for the industry in the upper right corner (NE). On the lower part (S), it's again 3/4" but for the mainline that continues out of the layout to the (S) and (W).
I'll post more tomorrow and thanks Damin for the compliments, this plan was a real pleasure to work on and if I hadn't started building it, I could have modified it over and over and over... well, you get the picture! :-)
