my bnsf peavine sub track plan
hello every one..i have been posting quit a few videos about my layout, but never posted the track plan. last week, when my friend from Canada was here, we installed JMRI panel pro. so i played around with it for a while & came up with this drawing. it is about 99% accurate. my layout is a point to point that starts in phoenix az & ends in ash fork az. it is about 195 miles of trackage.the table height at Mobest yard is 40" & 60" at a Ash Fork.i am very limited to space so i was forced to do lots of compression
An invaluable tool: the mason's level
If you want to achieve perfect track work, buy yourself one of the very small levels that masons hang on a level line. Mounted on the back of a slow moving gondola or flat car, it will reveal imperfections in track work that simply do not show up on longer levels but which can make a bit difference in the smoothness of train operation. I've found my mason's level especially helpful when having to work out transitions to and from super-elevated curves, especially one long climbing "S" curve that once drove me nuts with passenger car derails.
Milestones
Not quiet as aspected but "just in time", I reached my self-defined goal yesterday by completing the steel-girder bridge which I build using ME Girder-Bridge Kits. It rests on plaster abutments for which I scratch built casting molds.
The Augusta Railway - Deep South Modeling in Utah
I'm living in Utah now and miss my home in the South. So I thought I'd model August, Georgia in the 110 degree summer heat, along with a little humidity, just so that I don't get homesick.
Work Continues On Layouts
I've got two projects going on at this time.
One: I'm building the newly designed Augusta Railroad
Two: I'm designing Rick Wade's Richlawn Railroad Version 2

Express Reefer Trucks
Looking for some help with locating trucks to replace these gruesome looking things on my Erie caboose. Searching the web turned up no results, and while I love to support my LHS, they aren't much help when it comes to things like this.
I imagine that these are express reefer trucks. Wheel base is 6 feet. Wheels are 33".
The Cornhill & Atherton Railroad begins
The Cornhill and Atherton is born……..
Christmas seems to be the time that I make most progress, so the chainsaw layout has been chain sawed and I finally make a start on the main event. Although I now have a dedicated railroad room it’s only 11 x 8 (space is at a premium in the UK). So after months of investigation and thought I settled on a 2 deck arrangement linked with a helix.
QN ....er I mean HR Cabin
If there was ever a point for me in this hobby that has influenced me greatly the one that would be right up there was when i first saw the picture of QN tower... set deep in the heart of the new river gorge and everything about the viginette screams Appalachian Railroading. Ever since that point I knew i wanted to recreate it either in a strict prototype scene or as the centerpiece of a well executed proto-free lanced scene. Here is the photo that started it all...
