Train 54, Where Are You?
Mile Posts on the prototype railroads serve many important purposes. On model railroads they can serve equally important jobs if installed carefully.
Of these jobs, mile posts can tell a train crews where they are and help them determine how fast they're going.
Finishing Up
Final detail parts have arrived and allowed me to finish up the scene at Clive, Iowa on my IAIS Grimes Line layout.
Ghost River Redesign
Well fellow modelers, it's time for a change. As much as I like what I have in the layout room, I want to make things more accessible. To do that I needed to eliminate my wye, Spectre and a turntable. I still want my CP engines to service the Ghost River mainline/CP branch and my logging engines to work the logging branch.
Rubber Band Stamp
just ordered a 4 band rubber stamp with 0 to 9 digits and a pad with quick drying white ink.
With so much rolling stock to number I thought I'd give it a go, see how it works out, total investment about $25.
The stamp looks a bit like this, digit height is 1/8", will post pictures when I get the stamp.
cheers, Leo
It's gone
This is what my layout looked like at 8:00 this morning:
And this is what it looks like now (12:30 PM):
COMPUTER BACK UP A MUST
Went cruising last week on Disney Magic out of Galveston, the grain elevator and RR tracks are right alongside of ship terminal and I parked my car at Galveston NHRS Museum so that makes this a RR story.
Got home plugged in Computer, NO START, knew that the way it was acting that probably power supply. Monday got it fixed.
While waiting set up laptop and had it set up with backup hard drives to continue on. I downloaded current version of JMRI and restored was ready for big op session on this weekend.
GET A LARGE BACK UP DRIVE AND USE IT. IT IS CALLED PEACE OF MIND.
Track laying has come to a halt
Today I found out I will not be able to get ties from Micro-Engineering till WHEN??? They could not tell me.
Not a happy railroader today. Anyone know what would be a GOOD substitute.
