I guess since this is my first blog entry I'll introduce myself and give a little background (my apologies in advace, this will probably be wordy)...
BNML - Staging Benchwork Progress
Staging Benchwork is progressing.
I expect to begin laying track after this weekend! (yay!!)
Progression until today:
Walthers Wood Coal Tower Build
This is the Walthers Wood Coaling Tower that I am building and weathering for my layout. This is my first structure build and weathering attempt. I am following Ron Klaiss’ method located here
CCW
Here are a few views of my O scale railroad the Charles City Western. The layout is 100% modular although I don't take any of them to shows any more, too much work getting the out of the room. Most of the power is rebuilt atlas WDT industrial switchers. It is a switching layout Inbound cars are received from interchanges at either end of the railroad (removable storage trays) and spotted to the local industries. It can take a two hours to make a round trip.
Looking for a Ian Rice Track Plan
Hello,
maybe someone out there could help me. I'm looking for a trackplan made from Ian Rice. It was printed I think in one of Model Railroaders supplements. It was 4x8 feet trackplan, which he converted to a shelf layout desing. If I'm right there was a small wharf and a cannery.
Thank you for your help.

old Model Power set, still in boxes, how do I assess value?
Have a Model Power Train set (guessing @ 40+ years old), most still in boxes and don't know how to assess value (this was purchased to be a toy way back when, we are not train enthusiasts). Can someone estimate value and give me some direction?

New fencing!
Built a chain link fence as an experiment using craft store "jewelry wire". Came out ok I think as this is my first attempt at this using wire. Sorry for the fuzzy photo as I took it with my cell phone camera. I still need to paint it and actually install it permanently into position.
HO Scale
Budget Rail Bender
This is my low cost Rail Bender, built for about $20.
King Stone
King Stone is just about done - a few more "people" working will make it more complete. Also, attached from left to right is an overview of the railroad - East Yard to East Tunnels to Westbound past King Stone and Ivanhoe Road Station. To the right of the station is the future bridge to the West portion of the layout scheduled for construction in January. In the foreground you can see the last two sidings to be put in that cross over one another - left going to right coal company trestle and right going to left and down to a lower level box company.
point to point or not
I wish to build a model train layout depicting the lifecycle of cement production I want to start the lifecycle by building a quarry with a stone crusher and washer facility ( the glacier gravel co) leading to a cement production plant (valley stone cement co) not a ready mix plant connecting the two using a conveyer system and then finally at a later stage would like to add a ready mix plant( medusa cement co ) connecting all three facilities closer to a city or town Should I use a point to point layout system or could I use another layout format
