Static Help

Either operator or equipment error is all I can figure. After two tries, my static grass is not standing up. I am using the following:

1. Grass applicator from Micro-Mark with 2 D-cell batteries (brand new) with a strainer type screen.

2. Enlarged the holes with a hat pin and have good flow when "tapping" the plastic arm.

3. Using a finishing nail as a ground into the cork or foam area to be applied.

4. Using Woodland Scenics static grass flocking material.

Track upgrades before ore shipping season

Taking a cue from my favorite MRH columnist Mike Rose and Marty McGuirk, I have been slowly rebuilding my layout for the better. I have shut down the operations so I can replace the turnouts on the lower level. I have been taking up the Atlas commercial turnouts and replacing them with hand built ones to NMRA standards with Fast Track tools and lessons.

Latest update on CNW Engine Terminal relocation

It's been a little while since I posted a update on the relocation of the Watersmeet Engine Terminal on my CNW Peninsula Div. RR. So here it is: This is the new Machine Shop which will be mounted next to the Round House. It is a Walthers kit which I repainted and weathered added a couple of details - AC unit, tank, and additional exhaust pipes. Added a gravel roof also, great way to hide any dust.

Two Worlds RR

Hi all,

I'd like to share with you the start, progress and re-start on my eclectic HO scale layout.

A rr modeller since I was a child, I've been interested in US-themed rr's since the early 1990's. SoCal/Cajon Pass and the Santa Fe /BNSF transition era was to be the theme for my layout, had I not fallen into a great appreciation for the south of France and the French railways.

How to accommodate all of this in a single layout?

Seeking IR detector selection advice

Greetings all,

I’m looking to install a grade crossing on my HO Free-Mo module and am currently comparing the available optical detection systems. For the crossing itself I think I know which controller, grade crossing signal, and bell module I want to use; however, with regard to the detection hardware that will set the whole thing in motion, I’m stuck in analysis paralysis.
