Creating Operations Paperwork - Harrisburg Division 1975 / Switch List...

With another Ops Session scheduled for Wednesday with four of our wider operating group I decided that I needed to create some form of Switch List for the guys to know what & where to spot cars.

Working on the Railroad, Again.....update on the truss bridge

Well, I finally got around to finishing the bashed truss bridge so I thought I'd post photos of it before I store it away until the time comes to build the module it fits into.

Port Costa Roundhouse update

Spent most of today in the sunny UK trying to complete this Banta model works kit. I guess I'm about 95 percent done. Made a little diorama for it, as I'm just really learning the skills of the hobby. Took some pics and then you keep seeing bits that need a little more attention. Jobs for other days then...

Reworking an old section

I started scenic works on the westend section of Elizabeth Oaks nearly 3 years ago. I handled this section always as a test environment for some basic skills and techniques like weathering and ballasting the track.
While scenic work proceeded eastbound I felt more uncomfortable with the first section.
So I stepped up the plate and reworked the section throughout.

Power issues?

It has been a while since I last posted something to my blog here.  While I visit quite often, I tend to just take and observe rather than contribute much.  With Joe's recent post about frustrations of the hobby, an number of the comments pertain to power issues on the models, particularly recent releases.  While I have some opinions about this topic, I thought it would be good to get at what is really meant by this.

West end love - Part deux!

And there is a small and easy industry to model located on the front of the layout, a scrap dealer (you get the picture by now, do you?).  I say easy cause, well, there is no building, just a dirt area with some heavy equipment going about their business.

I have applied a coat of sand for now.  I will paint it when this coat is dry and use this as a base for my second layer of sand.

Time for the West end of the layout to get some love

As the title says, I've been coming out of my procrastination period and been working on the layout.  Last night, I turned my attention to the West side where the staging track is connected to the layout.  There will be a paper recyclers plant on the far side, built as a backdrop building to save space.  I have built the basic core with the doors opening cut out.  Next step is to spray the roof with textured paint, add the clapboard on the faces that will be apparent, make the frames for the doors and print the doors themselves.
