The first locomotive for the Willamette Western RR

Okay, so I got my new decals from Bill B. a few days ago, and I've been slowly working on the first locomotive to wear the new name.

It's an Atlas Trainman GP39-2, and it was selected because, well... it was closest at hand. It was the unit that I just put the LokSound Select Direct into. It (#2309, "Philomath") and it's brother #2307 "Independence" are also much less detailed (less to break) than their Athearn Genesis brethren... and thus less nerve wracking to work on.

Designing the Rutherford Yard - Fascia Panel...

A few hours today has been spent designing the Rutherford Yard - Fascia Panel.

Limon Layout more Foam and Plaster

Well here's an update to my layout construction. This is series of pics of the foam and plaster work.

I used everything I could to save on cost from floral foam, left over foam insulation from the base work, to packing paper and foam peanuts. I started painting the base color a dark green. I used large bottles of Christmas green craft acrylic mixed with a bit of burnt umber.

Next update will be the start of landscaping.

Scenery Levels - Improving the enjoyment of my Richlawn Railroad

I've recently been thinking about not only what I want to do on my layout, but more about how I want to do it and as a result I've started to enjoy my layout more by switching the way that I do things on my pike.  Up until these past few months I've always worked a scenery area until I'm mostly satisfied.  Notice that I said that "mostly" - that's because I'll never be completely satisfied!  I would work continuously on a small area spending months (years?) before moving on.
