November Siskiyou Line Op session

Here's some "best of" photos from the just recently conducted op session on my HO Siskiyou Line.

Video response

Charlie Comstock's video Railfanning the Bear Creek & South Jackson inspired me to try a response. My layout is not finished and I used the unsenicked area too.

And again I've learned why the pros take many hours of video and you see only a few minutes.
And you need good light, and ....

Anyway, it was fun

In search of the prototype - a basis for modeling - Part I

This was originally posted in my blog on the Model Trains Universe site on April 27, 2007 and re-posted on the Piedmont Division Blog on November 16, 2007, and now re-posted here on the new MRH site today!

Decoder Pro Presentation

Hi,

Whoever thought of posting the live presentation about Decoer Pro on the web deserves a medal! It's a superb way of giving people a good insight into how the software and hardware works.

Thanks for doing the work.

Best regards,

Keith

Online Hobby Shop Reviews

This will be the place I'll review my experiences with online hobby shops, with a distinctly Canadian perspective.  As I talked about in another thread, Canadian shoppers are a little more limited when it comes to shopping online, either because people won't ship here, will ship here at exorbitant prices or we just can't find the Canadian roads we're looking for because they just aren't stocked.  We have some Canadian hobby shops online, but I haven't yet found one that provides discounts like the American shops.

Atlas prepares to kill my budget - a Trainman GP39-2

Okay, this one is kind of significant. Atlas is producing, as part of their Trainman line, the Phase 1 GP39-2 that forms the backbone of my prototype railroad, the Portland & Western (in it's former name of Willamette & Pacific). It will initially be available in two road numbers each of the following railroads: CSX (in YN3), Delaware & Hudson (Blue & Yellow), Portland & Western (Black and Orange) and Santa Fe (Bluebonnet) as well as undecorated.

Atlas' new Track Cleaning Car

As predicted by MRH (or at least me, with MRH at the National Train Show in Anaheim), Atlas is releasing the Dapol(UK) track cleaning car under their own brand: http://www.atlasrr.com/HOFreight/hotrackcleaningcar.htm

Model Railroad Hobbyist's video coverage of Dapol at the National Train Show can be found

.

Personally... I think I'm adding it to my Christmas List.

U-shape benchwork
