Lemon Update, Laying Track.

Completed track laying and I used Atlas flex track with brown ties. I find the Atlas track easy to work with. As you can see I also simplified the layout from the original in the book. I'm glad I built the base light weight, as it makes it easy to move around.

So here's a few pics of the progress. Next update will be building bridges.

RPM Chicagoland

I just got back from an enjoyable time at the RPM Chicagoland in Lisle, IL. Mike Skibbe and company put on a new and improved show and I think the attendees were appreciative. I’m new to RPM meets so I’m not a good judge, but from what I could tell everyone had a great time.

Perfect box for the NCE USB Interface

The NCE USB interface board is necessary to connect a computer to your NCE Power Cab.  NCE suggests you screw it to framing under the layout.  Knowing my clumsiness, I would pull on a cable and snap the board in half.   A small, strong enclosure seemed like a good idea.

Painting Track - An experiment on the BNML

I was thinking it was time to try painting track!

Silly me.

This is a section of prototype rail on the CN Letelleir Sub.

My trial segment can be seen in the first comment...

Proof that water runs down hill - but this river flows North into Lake Superior

This river and small waterfall is right near my house. Off to the side is a hydroelectric plant built by Westinghouse for Henry Ford so he could build a plant and make wooden car parts, back in the day. They had a camp up here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for hunting, fishing and poker. Many big names came and went from that camp.

HO Scale PO Cabin Interlocking Tower

PO Cabin Interlocking Tower

To All: I scratch built this HO scale PO Cabin interlocking tower for the First Coast Model Railroad Society's layout in Jacksonville, Florida. It controls entrance to/exit from the Port of Portlandia on the layout. I painted and weathered the structure. Photo by Elvin Howland. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group Layout.

Updated Layout Plan...

Hi All,

I haven't posted an updated layout plan for awhile.  So seeing there have been some changes made to the Harrisburg Industrial Area, here is the current one with signal placement too.

Cheers,

Initial idea for track plan

Here's kind of what I'm thinking about for a track plan. the single track on the right side of the layout is just there for reference at this point there will likely be crossings sidings etc. My thought is that side would go through some canyon with perhaps a river. Also I'm thinking of doing double main line with cross over tracks.
