Completed track laying and I used Atlas flex track with brown ties. I find the Atlas track easy to work with. As you can see I also simplified the layout from the original in the book. I'm glad I built the base light weight, as it makes it easy to move around.

So here's a few pics of the progress. Next update will be building bridges.

Very elegant

The fascia is already on; - it looks graceful.  Two grades on the mainline add interest.

Check the transition from flat to the risers

Hi,  If you can try to get a few pieces of cork.  At the transition between the grade/flat see if it lays differently than the foam does right now.  If it is gradual....let it stay that way and shim the ground to the cork.

I always say there is a 3 degree of freedom in track laying (curves, grades, and if the track is level if you lay a level across the rails).  If you max out more than one, you are going to have issues with equipment that is near the limits of what is can take.  So you can max out a turn, but not a grade nor levelness of the track.  So at the bottom of the grade you have that could be a place your larger equipment has issues.  If you enable an easement there it will help.  Even if that is the flat to grade part of the design....
