Oops! - Another interesting scene to model

Messed up your Crossing Signal Towers? No worries, you can still use them!

By the looks of the tracks in the ditch on Friday, some poor truck driver ran down this signal bridge. The truck is long gone, but the tracks indicate a large excavator was used in the recovery.

Not unlike the like the BNSF Signal Upgrade, we'll call this "a scene you can model".

CNR liveries

I read that the CNR green and yellow paint sceme existed into the time of the CN noodle paint schemes, but I can't find any dates when the green and yellow scheme were last seen. I'm particularly interested to know if any RS3's lasted into 1968 in the yellow and green paint scheme. Any info or guidance in finding out would be much appreciated.

Introducing the Milan branch of the Iowa Interstate

After enjoying this site for over two years and learning a great deal from the many contributors, I have decided to start a blog to chronicle the construction of my prototype layout of the Iowa Interstate’s Milan branch. My hope is that by “going public” it will motivate me to keep progressing with the layout so that I actually have things to share. Nothing like a good dose of accountability to keep one from procrastinating, right?

Brake wheel which way does it go lead or dead on a freight car?

Have newbie question:

Modeling 60's to 70's over the Sierra's.

When a run of cars are purchased from say Pullman Manufacturing, which way is the brake wheel positioned in the lead or dead?

So in operation would it matter which way the brake wheel is positioned.

...and make sure you point 'em toward the road surprise

Question: Reporting marks

When did the practice of blocking out other RRs reporting marks/ heralds begin?

Moderator note: Edited the subject and question line a bit to make it more likely to get a useful response.

Can a loco lean to one side stationary?

I've noticed in a video that some freight cars can lean to one side while stationary.. Is thus due to worn out springs in the trucks? Can a diesel be slighty leaning to one side parked?
