Building the Buildings

I did not do a lot of work on the layout through the summer, but I never stopped building stuff, specifically buildings.

A couple of new houses for the town. Got to house the mine workers.

Russian Narrow Gauge locomotives.

In this blog I want to talk about Russian narrow gauge locomotives and how I am modelling them in TTe (1:120 on 6.5mm track). TT is still popular in Europe, and there is a slow increase in North American rolling stock in TT also. But Russia is where it is all happening!

Two references for these locos are listed below. They are both in Russian, but Google Translate is your friend.

October and fall is here....a trip to the new Rails to Trails in Tonawanda.

Just a quick one today, had a rare lazy Sunday and some beautiful fall weather, decided to check out the new Tonawanda Rails to Trails.  This past summer, they extended the trail along the former Erie Railroad line from North Buffalo to Tonawanda across Ellicott Creek into East Park.  They used most of the existing alignment and the old Erie bridge with new decking.  This trail runs close to the CSX Niagara Falls line, former NYC.  A pleasant place to walk and also some good places to watch trains.

Why I model the MEC, part 3 (end)

1 room – 2 layouts

In the last part of introducing me and my layout I’ll explain what my concept is. Because the upper level – Rockland branch of the MEC in 1954 – follows a considerably different design than the lower one – Portland Terminal Company in 1969.

The times they are a changin'

I had to drop out of the hobby for almost a year. Too many things in life piling up. I think I'm back on track (oh yeah, that's a pun) and starting to get into things. One is catching up with MRH and this forum. WOW things change. Can anyone say Decoder Buddy?!?!?! A game changer! Well I'm back to TMTV to check out all the new goodies.

The wonderful thing is this hobby has always waited for me to come back to it. Like a constant companion I can always turn to. Well, I best get reading. I have almost a years worth of 3 publications to catch up on!

Why I model the MEC, part 2

So. Why did the Rockland Harbor area had to go?

Why I model the MEC

Hi, my name is Markus!

So this is me, the guy with the summer suit standing next to the “Roter Pfeil” – “Red Arrow”. Actually it is the “Doppelpfeil Churchill”, RAe 4/8  # 1021. The photo was taken at Zurich Main Station, about 6 or 7 years ago, right before I boarded.

Who is/was Bobbye Hall?

well much to my pocket book's demise i bought some more ho scale dc brass. but two of them have this little but fancy label glued to the bottom. with the name of "bobby halls". then in very small text a city and state.

was he something as in a store? fine detailer? (one unit painted one in raw brass). just a person, placing a this belongs to me label on the bottom of his power?

yes the label is brass not paper or plastic. and the lettering is relived and has black paint in it. the gears were all dry.
