Want to use a camera in your layout?. look here...
for info with onboard-usable cameras.

New guy here
Hello everyone. My name is Michael. I just joined here. Been a lurker for a while. While I can't even come close to some of you expert modelers here, I thought I'd share some of my layout photos.
This is my first real layout (since I was 7 years old with a 4x8 tyco trains).
I'm from Denver, CO. I'm 42. I started my layout about a year and a 8 months ago.
HO Scale. Main Layout 12'x15', extension room is 10'x10' (Just finished the benchwork for it).
Model railroad products and availability....
Hello all....
I have been playing with trains to some degree since I was a little kid. And I remember when all of the manufacturers moved the construction and assembly jobs and opportunities to other countries like China etc.... But I have to say I feel this has come to bite us in the caboose. Further, this was predicted by many modelers back when the jobs first went over seas. Now the development of these products take a very long time to get to us. Further, the prices are no longer super cheap. The prices are going up and up and up.
Here is one for Irv.
Irv, this site was linked at another forum I frequent. I don't know if you are familiar with it, but it looks to have a lot of prototype info on your modeling interest.
Steel trestle under construction
Here is a great pic of a steel trestle under construction. Could be used as a scenic effect:

The works Inspector called in to Sweethome Alabama today to check on progress. I wish I hadn't used catnip leaves on that tree now

Time to move versus layout complexity
If you knew you were designing a sectional layout knowing good and well you would have to move it once or maybe twice in the next 10 years what length of time would you deem reasonable in regards to disassembly and time to reassemble again at the new site?
this is a question i ask as i am in this position and am looking at the complexity of my design. i feel it will take a day or 2 to pull apart my current plan and most likely a few hours each day over the course of a week to reassemble once moved. the layout size is 20x12 and is broken down in to 13 sections.
