Modeling Book Reviews

Since we've got an Online Hobby Shop review thread, I thought we should have a Book review thread. Post your reviews of modeling related books. We can make a separate thread for prototype related books.

Entertrainment Junction

This is a new family entertainment center that opened in West Chester, Ohio. I went with our local NMRA club

to tour the facility before it was completly finished and open to the public. Looks promising.

http://www.entertrainmentjunction.com/about.php

It claims a 25,000 sq ft indoor train display. Hope to make it up before Christmas is over to see the diplay.

"I have no connection with the facility, but thought others may be interested."

Scarborough MRR Club Open House. Photo Intense!!!

Good evening folks.  This afternoon I walked over to the Scarborough MRR club and snapped up a bunch of photos of their layouts.  The club holds four open houses every year.  Two in the spring, Two in the winter.  Today was the first winter showing.  On the upper floor there is the N scale club and in the basement is the HO club.

What's on your X-mas list?

The only thing on my X-mas list is Atlas' Amtrak GP-7 in the MoW paint.  After the loco, my Amtrak MoW train is complete, minus some flatcars.

It's time for the shadowbox

Dear forum,

It's time to start planning for my shadowbox design. I have three questions. Please look at this picture.

Extreme Trains

Anyone catch this on the History Channel?  What did you think?  I'm not quite sure what I think of the format of "somewhat overcaffeinated host running around".

I learned some stuff, so I guess it's all good.  Overall not bad although they blew it on the dynamic braking bit.

Uniglory..........

Hi my friends,

today having a day off, I thought it was time to fence the Uniglory container lot. Combining BLMA's chain link fence (# 4210) with Ratio Models security fencing (# 436) with some brainteasing measurements and planning ahead building, some paint and a little drybrushing; (The later will be redone tomorow so the first drybrush can set). I came up with the following........(hope you enjoy the pictures)

Problems mounting tortoise under spline roadbed

Dear forum,

I know that you are the real experts so I will ask you about this.

I'm trying to mount my tortoise under my masonite spline roadbed. But the distance from the tortoise to the turnout is too large. (at least I think so)

The second greatest thing since sliced bread?

Last year (or was it earlier this year? - I dunno) I made an online Car Card Generator that anybody could use to create car cards for car card & waybill operations.

And though I think it's pretty cool it's nothing like my most recent Frankenstein...

For years, I've kept track of my model trains and stuff  in an Access database on my computer.

Of course, when I was out and about – at a train show, for instance – it didn't help that the database that could tell me what I already did and didn't own was on a computer at home!

Moving model railroad and collection

Does anyone have an iron-clad method of moving a model railroad and the attributes? I am doing this myself next weekend. Fresno to Yuma, AZ. I am using the system of totes, they seem to work well when packed carefully. I have to take down the shelve brackets and then part the long 8'x12" sections. I am going to pack them into a 10' moving truck.
