how to make brass toe caps for a dining table leg's feet

I want to make some custom table leg toe caps (covers for the wooden ends of the bottom of a table pedestal).  I want to use brass sheet and will need to solder some perpendicular edge joints.  I have not soldered brass sheet before so could use some advice on the following:

- type of solder and flux (my web research has pointed me toward TIX)

Locomotive wheel cleaning question

I am new to the hobby, so excuse me if I do not know some of the terms you use. I am still learning and searching the forums for answers. I have a few older diesel locomotives, these are not brass that I converted from dc to dcc, They run, but poorly, I have traced it down to the wheels. It is not the track, because I cleaned it and ran some new locomotives on it and they run great.  The problem ones look like brass or bronze wheels, I do not know how to tell. Any way they are dirty. I have tried cleaning them the best I can, because they are really tarnished looking.

Our Hobby Prices as affected by shipping cost

I have a major concern about how shipping cast from overseas is going to affect both the prices of our model railroad items,...AND their availability.

I recall seeing a posting that talked about the huge increase in container freight coming in from China, but I can't find it now. Those container shipping rates have to be a big increase in our hobby supplies coming in from international shipping (as well as lots of other items), but we are talking RR items here.

And currently we have something like 80 container ships waiting to unload at our west coast ports.

Walthers Coaling Tower Track Spacing

What is the track center-line to center-line spacing between the three tracks for the HO Walthers Wood Coaling Tower 933-2922?  Neither the instructions or the footprint diagram has that information.

Same question on the Walthers HO Modern Coaling Tower 933-2903?

Cocoa Beach 2022 Operating Sessions

Good morning.

My name is Robert Gross. I am very new to operations but I think my layout is at the point where operations would be something fun to get started on.

The layout itself is a prototypical rendition of the New Haven RR in Waterbury CT during the early fall of 1948 and is housed in my garage.

I would like to know who to speak with from the Cocoa Beach Proto Rails meet about hosting an operation session on my HO scale New Haven layout during the meeting coming up on January 6-9. Any help would be appreciated.

It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em.  There were quite a few late-comers in last week's post.  Check them out, then come back here afterward.
