Modelling train wrecks

Has anyone tried, succeeded in or viewed a train wreck as a model, such as a sideswipe still on the tracks or a derailment, etc. Was/is it based on a prototype? Can you supply photos od the model?

I was looking for some good Union Pacific prints for my workshop....

And I came across a guy selling sets of Al Chione slides of the Union Pacific from the 1950s.  I bought two sets of slides (33 and 44) and each set contains notes describing what/when/where for each slide. Many of the  slides are great and I especially liked the slides that show double-headed Big Boys running. I like these because I plan to have a helper district on my layout that will utilize LARGE helper locos.

A sample of the slides:

Matte finish recommendations?

What do you modelers recommend as a final matte finish locomotives and rolling stock? ALSO how do you apply it?

Can spray cans of Testor's Dullcoat or Krylon matte finish apply an even coat that is not too thick?

American source for driver wheels for scratch building steam locomotives

Hello all,

I recently acquired a book on how to scratch build steam locomotives in OO scale, I plan to use the methods to build some North American locos but I can not find any domestic suppliers of driver wheels in S scale. The way I see it I will have to scavenge the wheels off of trains that are beyond repair or maybe find a machine shop that will mill some for me. Does anyone know of such a source in the USA of steam drivers and other locomotive wheels?

Custom Decals??

After a dry transfer disaster, I am looking for a source for getting some decals made. In white, of course. I've only been able to find two sources, one of whom has a messed up web site (which makes me nervous about a graphics job), and another with a notice that orders wil be delayed due to illness.

Any suggestions, recommendations or warnings?

Flour unload

I'm looking how flour will be unloaded (at a bakery). It will be delivered by hoppers, but how will it be unloaded? Is there only some piping and hoses for pressurized air and the flour will be blown through these pipes? Or will there be some open grates between the rails?

No children to stay at home Dad with two children. How much free time am I really going to have?

I am retiring from the Military after 20+ years.. My wife and I had twins in April. A boy and a girl. However, my wife had moved to Germany to take a job. In about a month, I will be finally joining them. We plan on staying 5 years.
