Paasche Air Eraser Mini Sandblast Gun Set
I am in the process of preparing some brass steam locos for paint. I was wondering if anyone has an experience with the Paasche Air Eraser Mini Sandblast Gun Set. I've read that aluminum oxide is the preferred medium. Does this have a grit rating? Or is aluminum oxide the grit rating (or type).
Don Cassler, B&O M&K Division passes away
MMR Don Cassler, modeler of the B&O M&K Division lost his battle with Prostate cancer May 2015. Don's layout was captured in Allen Keller's Great Model Railroads #5 and in the June, 1990 issue of Model Railroader. His layout featured hand-laid trackwork, beautiful mountain scenery, a working signaling system and some great operation in his monthly sessions. His passing places him with other icons of the hobby such as, John Allen, Linn Wescott, and Paul Mallery. His railroad lasted for almost 30 years and he hosted many open houses and op sessions for visiting modelers.

tips for collecting ballast in the field
I'm planning a research and rock gathering trip in a few weeks and was going to take a few tubs home. Are there any tips or tricks for this type of reconnaissance? Best lines to use when the state trooper asks what you're doing with a shovel on the side of the road? Are we looking for the finest stuff, or should we be taking larger rocks with the intent to put them in a blender later on?
Thanks!
Rob
Paper Mill Construction
I've been busy the last month bashing a paper mill from 2 Walthers kits following an article by Bernie Kempenski from back in 2001 about how he did a similar task. We both found the same prototype mill, the Rocktenn mill at West Point, VA. It's huge, a 1/2 mile wide and a mile long. My space is 13 inches wide and 10 feet long, so compression is needed. I hope I can keep all the main RR related features, and convey a sense of industrial menace with lots of tanks and piping (spider web frames & dust collectors).
Access to Old Blogs
I download the MRH in embed format and have all old issues on disk, but I recently saw a reference to an old MRH blog posting (2012- Dec 31/ Benny's Blog) on Google. When I called it up online, the text was there but there were no images. I looked for help on my old Dec2012 MRH issue, but you cannot access old blogs, just the magazine content. Is there a way to get the original image content from that particular blog post?
