Prototype option for a 4x8?
I was checking out a new web site I ran across (openrailwaymap.org) and was following the Iowa Interstate line west when I noticed the track arrangement at Wilton, Iowa. Wilton is home to one of the Gerdau Ameristeel plants that takes in scrap steel for recycling into long steel – products such as wire, tubes, beams, etc., and even slab steel.
Does anyone sell plastic HO scale (or close) rail?
I am contemplating building one of the "ironclads" that rode the rails in the American Civil War. They were often armored with rails, but using them would be HEAVY and CO$TLY. I would love to find something good enough that's cheaper and lighter; does anyone have any ideas?
software discovery
Santa brought me some software today that i had been hoping for. some may already have it. some may not. Its called modeltrainsoftware.com. Here is a building front i created in about 30 minutes. Its HO scale. 34' by 20'.
Merry Christmas To All
I want to wish all the nice people here at MRH a great holiday season. Everyone is so nice and helpful.

Rotary Phone on the layout
I saw and read something about using old rotary wall phone on a layout. Having a phone at certain location where the "engineers" calls "dispatch" to get clearance etc.
Does anyone have something familiar or know where the article is located?
Thanks

Swiss 4x4 Layout
I haven't posted anything on these forums about my current layout I'm working on. I'll post the link to the nscale.net thread I started this layout on as to see all previous updates. It is a simple double track main with a spur, small yard, and an engine depot. It is loosely based on the Gotthard or Lötschberg Route in Switzerland in the 90's. It is when the SBB had the gray paint scheme on the Eurocity passenger cars, along with the extensive ad campaigns on the Re460's.
Weekly Photo Fun - December 22nd to December 29th, 2016
Awesome work everyone last week! Time to start the penultimate photo thread of 2016!
As always, we get as much out of your in-process photos as we do the highly polished "all done" shots!

Latest video - A Look at how track warrant control works - For model railroading
I thought some might enjoy our latest video
In this video we take a look at Track Warrant Control for model railroading with real world video examples, graphics, illustrations and more.
With some much needed humor, we cover a variety of interesting topics related to Track Warrant Control. We look at the basic concept, talk about what it is, what it's for and how it can be taken from the real world and applied to model railroading to enhance layout operation.
Have a great holiday and Merry Christmas from Joey Ricard and family

A Tree for Christmas
So a week ago my daughter asked me if she could have a palm tree for Christmas… She loves watching me make the videos that I do for YouTube and is always impressed with the end result however, the creations I make are always getting put aside or on the shelf ready to be used on my layout once it’s ready!

Nice video...
Get out the tissues.
