2" vs 4" rigid insulation
Looking for some thoughts as always from this highly educated group. When it comes time to start building my modular layout,, using 18" by 48" sections, I was going to go with 4" of that pink Owens Corning rigid insulation, without any plywood substrate under that. Just laying it straight down on the cross members and laying track right on top of that.. But not being familiar with the stuff, as its hard to find down here in Florida, would 2" be just as good and solid, again without any sort of plywood substrate under it. Just glued right to the cross members.
Curved Warehouses
Do any manufactures make a curved warehouse kit? I have never scratch built a structure. How would I go about building one? Suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Henry

Operating session on the CGW
Yesterday I had another very enjoyable time operating on Jason Klocke’s Chicago Great Western. It truly is one of the most realistic layouts for both operations and scenic artistry. Jason is a keen observer of realism and he has the technique and skills to recreate an amazing representation of the CGW in miniature.

Sanborn Map help
Good evening all,
I'm starting a scratchbuilding project based on the building diagram below. There's one bit of information that I don't know regarding the drawing. There are two heights noted on the plans. There's a 12 ft. height on the "top" outline near the center. There's also a 22 ft.height notation near the lower left corner.
Weekly Photo Fun - January 6th to January 26th, 2017
Awesome work everyone last week! Time to start this week's photo thread!
As always, we get as much out of your in-process photos as we do the highly polished "all done" shots!

Sharing some pictures of the Kato HO UP SD38-2 I detailed and Monsterized.
I am sharing pictures of the Kato engine I detailed and upgraded to Monster LEDs a couple of weeks ago. I had the engine sitting in the box for almost a year when I decided to take it to work and added all the wire grab irons and then ripped out the DC board and the clear plastic light pipes inside. Over the period of a couple of weeks I added all the needed details compared to the two prototype pictures I referenced. I did not create a Masterpiece, rather a Monsterpiece but I am very pleased with the little things I did to it. This is what I did to the engine

Weekly Photo Fun - 30 December 2016 - 5 January 2017
Everyone must have been caught up in the holiday, because nobody thought to start a new Photo Fun thread for this week!
So, let's see your photos! - and remember, we like seeing in-progress photos as much as we do the polished (and weathered) final product!

@Jarhead....................
I tried to send you a PM but could not find a way to do it, so I'll post here and apologize to anyone this method bothers..............
