Archer Rivet and Weld Decals
Has anyone in this forum have experience using the Archer raised decals? I ordered a sample size of both rivets and welds, but the rivet heads look pretty small for 1/29 scale. I think I can manage to use to weld decals fine, but I'm thinking I should have ordered the "G" scale 5/8" rivets instead of the sample pack.
I'm wondering what size people have used? And thoughts about them?

S curves
Hello from Belgium,
One of my favorite aspect in the hobby before scenery and scratchbuilding, is trackwork on my N scale layout, with broad curves and flowing track, turnouts are by Fastrack jig, #6 in yard and industrial spurs and #8 on the main.
In many forums I see many discussions about the use of S curves in our tracwork.
Many pro and cons about the use of S curves but feel more cons about them.
If we look at mother nature many real trackwork follow S curves, large ones of course to snake between natural obstacles.

Weekly Photo Fun 8/6/2017 through 8/12/2017
It is a new week and time for some new photo fun!!!
Please post your work, finished or in progress and have a great week!
National Train Show Observations
Observations from Natl Train Show. First, Orange County Conv Ctr is huge. Second OCCC is HUGE! We have been walking for a good 10 minutes and still haven't gotten into the show itself. Had to stop to take a rest. And there is a huge line to get in. Not what I accepted at all.
FSM Closing its Doors
I see in one of the ads in MRH that Fine Scale Miniatures is closing down. While this is sad for FSM's customers, I want to know what will happen to the amazing Franklin and South Manchester layout that George Sellios has built. I sincerely hope it isn't going to be chainsaw fodder. That would be a terrible fate for what must be one of the great layouts of all time. Perhaps MRH could contact Mr. Sellios and ask. And while you're at it, an interview / layout video would be welcome too.
Keep up the great work guys.

Photo Etching at Home - Tutorial
Hey all,
I just finished filming and editing a tutorial video on creating your own photo etched parts at home, I'm using the Micro-Mark Pro Etch Photo Etch System however even if you don't have this kit you'll be able to use the same techniques to get similar result.
That said I have to say the Pro Etch System makes it very easy to achieve and it comes with everything required in one handy package.
Building the Somerset Railroad in 1980
At the beginning of this year, I started a blog documenting the construction of Somerset Junction in HO Scale. Set in 1980, it is a modern(ish) proto-freelance take on the junction between the Somerset and the Canadian Pacific. Photos documenting this project can be found by following the link below. Enjoy if you choose to follow along.

Northwest Short Lines Duplicator and making nice regular square holes
I'm going to be at the National Train Show tomorrow, and have a list of things to gab, if practical. I was looking for feedback on the NW Short Lines duplicator, in case it's for sale; I do scatch build some stuff, and hope to do more.
Also, is there a good tool for making nice right angles and precisely sized holes for windows and doors, on buildings, coaches, and such.
I'll be checking this site at 9:am tomorrow, before I leave. (I'll stop by the Model Railroad Hobbyist booth for certain!)
Frugal Modeling tip - Inexpensive Pipes
Water balloon technology has produced an auto fill balloon cluster that can be the source of inexpensive pipes for your model railroad. The balloon clusters can be found on the shelves of your local Wal-Mart or CVS.
Scratchbuilding ship
Hi everyone, I'm unable to have a layout at the moment so I'm going to get my modeling fix by building a ship I can put on the layout eventually. I'd like to build an HO ore boat to go alongside the future ore dock I'll build. Looking for some advice or input from anyone who's built any ship models. My plan is to shape the hull out of foam board and wrap it in sheet styrene. The superstructure would be built out of styrene and attached on top. I'm wondering if this sounds like a good start.
