Advice needed on spraying Scalecoat II - I'm getting a slight grain effect vs a mirror finish
I have a brass Whitcomb 44 tonner that I want to finish in the as delivered Rock Island scheme of red and black. I bought fresh bottles of Scalecoat II caboose red and black with Scalecoat II thinner this weekend and sprayed the red last night. Rather than getting a mirror finish for decalling I'm seeing a slight grainy effect in the finish. Used 30 PSI and thinned the paint around 20% paint and 80% thinner. Any suggestions - more paint and less thinner, reduce the PSI?

Advice please on contest models
O.K., I finally took the plunge and entered a structure (my Roy's Safe & Lock) into judging at this past weekend SER convention in Birmingham, AL.. The structure was never built with the intention of entering it into a contest, but there was a challenge between our division and the host division to see who could bring the most models. The model I took is a kitbash of (2) DPM #104 "B.
Hard wiring a drop in board
I had purchased a used Athearn Dash 9 with a digitrax DS104k1 sound decoder drop in board some time ago and it has run ok. I needed to do some maintenance on the unit and took the opprtunity to replace the HARDWIRED LED with two 1.5V 15 milliamp bulbs, and also adding ditch lights. Why the LED was hard wired I assume is that it is not a drop in board for this model. My question is, I believe I DO NOT need to add resistors between the bulbs and the board as the circuit board takes care of reducing the voltage.

Updates to the Bagnell Branch - town added to the helix.
One of my future plans to to change the layout's theme to a Rock Island mainline and let the Mopac operate the small switching yard. I just finished Blair Lines Gerald RI depot and placed it on the right of way to see how it looked with a freight running by. l

Any Suggestions - Identifying Locos and Rolling Stock
Hello All,
I have been enjoying MRH immensely since I have found it and hope someone can help me out. I admit that identifying all types of locos and rolling stock is not my strength and wondered if anyone could suggest websites that allows you to find pictures and information to solve this issue. Part of the reason is I am trying to identify ages and uses of items I currently have so that I am using the appropriate ones on my layout which is set in the mid 1930's.
Any help here is appreciated - Thanks!
My new Class 27 on its first run on the layout
Last weekend I attended a FREMO meeting in Hanau, with my Isle of Skye Railway modules. There I made a short movie showing my new Class 27 in action.
