Grade crossing controllers and Digitrax BDL168
Hi chaps,
I'm on the lookout for a decent grade crossing controller that can work with the Digitrax BDL168 occupancy detector. Most of the main grade crossing controllers seem to use optical sensors, but as I already have block detection in place it makes sense to make use of that.
Adding a farm scene made easy.
So I completed another puzzle, Autumn Ride which is a Famous Artist Collection puzzle. This puzzle is of a nice farm scene which I thought I might be able to use on my Grants Pass Western railroad. I scanned, reduce the picture size and cut out the parts I wanted to use. As the trees were of an autumn scene, the trees and sky had to go as well as the bottom part which was going to be out of scale. I also cut out the pond on the left hand side.

Woodland Scenics C1311 Curved Tunnel
Hello there !
I'm planning to buy a Woodland Scenics C1311 Curved Tunnel for my small H0 layout.
In fact, I'm a poor builder. That's the reason why I'm looking at this tunnel.
All your advices are welcome ! Many thanks in advance.

Plymouth MDT/GE35 Ton Switcher
I am looking to re-motor an HO Plymouth MDT / GE 35 Ton Switcher. This particular model was manufactured in Yugoslavia, It has a three pole motor and single drive axle that when enough voltage is applied, it takes off like a rocket; not what you want for a switcher. I want to add DCC and sound, if possible, I think an n-scale decoder and speaker would fit if an appropriate motor can be found. I have looked at the Stanton drives from NWSL but their largest wheelbase is 10-feet. I measure the wheelbase of the loco as 11.5-feet.
Chainsaw Layout - Somewhere in Southern Ontario
I think I've finally got my track plan drawn to how it is built. The radii may not be exactly as shown (some might be a little tighter than shown but I've tried to keep everything as broad as possible.

Tutorial on how to make mountains, Rock sides and hills
HI! :)
I got a request from user "towazy" to make tutorial on how I model my mountains, rocks sides and hills. Here´s what the final result looks like:
1954 railroad film noir: "Human Desire" has much prototype action
Glenn Ford is an engineer, Broderick Crawford an assistant yardmaster with anger management problems in the film now showing on the GetTV network. Hot babes, 1954 style. Murder and adultery ensue.
Great prototype scenes of railroad activity filmed on the Rock Island in El Reno, OK. Want to see a PA turn on a turntable? It's here. Yard office scenes, rip tracks, arrivals and departures. Maintenance. Close ups of trucks, car interiors.
Transitioning Between Track Manufacturers (same code rail)
Sort of a newbie question, as I begin work on my first "serious" layout. I searched for an answer online and could not find anything helpful. I am using Code 83 track from a variety of manufacturers (mostly out of necessity given commercially-available turnouts) and have run into a problem: There isn't a seamless joint when I put two manufacturers together - for example, I am using Peco turnouts, Micro Engineering flextrack, and Atlas track in some places.
Feb 2016-3 - Siskiyou Line open house, part 2
Joe Fugate’s Siskiyou Line is over two decades old, but for the past three years he hasn’t had the opportunity to do much work on it. In part two of this feature, guests attending a National Model Railroad Association convention arrive to tour the layout and Joe holds a special operating session for a handful of convention attendees. If you missed part 1, you can watch it here.
