MOW equipment/cars in N scale?

I have an older N scale Bachman MOW crane set and was thinking of trying to repaint, decal and detail, then pair with a MOW crew car and flatcar or gondola with appropriate load.  But before diving into the project, does anyone know of other higher quality models of these specialized cars available in this scale that I might consider aquiring?

Also, what cars/equipment were typically included in MOW trains that I may be missing?  (This is for the late steam era.)

TIA.

Setting the layout...(got a question)

Hi all,

my turn to ask a question.

My switching layout (stub end branch layout) needs a name. Yeah I know, I always say the" H's&T's", but that's just an abreviation of "Harley's and Trains" and, pfffft, that does not sound realy "prototypical".  Or does it?

Prototype sidings

Here are some pictures I took at a local warehouse siding that show the height difference between the main line and the spur on a 200' distance between main and spur.. Notice also the "ballast" on the latter!.

BS 70 Ton 3 Truck Cimax

Just received the latest edition of the 70 ton shay.....looks good..... runs like crap.

There appears to be a "hitch in it's get along". Engine starts to move at throttle setting 1 and then stars to do the herky jerky about every other wheel rotation. Tried running on the test fixture to "wear" the runnng gear in but no apparent improvement. Added a dab of lubricant to external moving parts...no improvement. Any body had this problem? If so what pray tell fixed it. Really don't want to send it back. I love these little things.....

prodigy with n-scale?

I'm switching from ho scale to n scale and I'm wondering if my MRC Prodigy system will work in n scale? I really like it and hope it works.

New L&N loco for the railroad

Recently one of my beloved locos (the first loco I ever purchased) let out the "magic smoke" and no longer operated.  It was a U28b Proto 2000(tm) w/ DCC & Sound.  It was originally a GE demo loco #302 painted all black.  A good friend of mine (Bob) did a custom repaint on the loco in L&N gray (No 2509) and added weathering.  He did an excellent job and I definately want that loco running on my layout.

Revisit water cars?

Hi, Joe, going through some of our old (2004) communications and I noticed that for all eastbound (north) trains the water car operations were at Oakland. Somehow I missed when they were moved to Roseburg. Curious as to when and why? John Colley, Port Townsend, WA Day Late and Dollar Short Line
