MRRT Weathering test video

I'm testing a new video series, that I'd hope can be a weekly, or bi-weekly thing sometime next year.

Wheel Size for freight cars

Can anyone tell me why there are sets of wheels sold for freight cars in 33" and 36"?  Why are there two sizes?

Walthers Shinohara FYI

Unlike most of you I have no desire to hand lay track. Oh, the patience you must have. The Fast Tracks jigs do look nice and with all the rave reviews I have no doubt they work great however due to the number of configurations I need they represent a very substantial cash investment, some to build only one needed switch.

Lake Country Railroad - Staging

The staging area on my layout will be the lowest of three decks at 30".  The next deck above it will be 40".   There will be eight tracks to "stage" trains.  Six of the tracks will be split into two segments to allow for piggybacking two short trains or one long train.  There will also be a reversing loop to allow for "turning" a train at its destination.

Speakers - SK-8701

Guys,

We are releasing a new speaker immediately after testing numerous versions for our locomotive kits.  This speaker is 2 watt, 8 ohm, with 47mm X 16.5mm X 7mm outer dimensions.

Our initial shipment is inbound.  They will retail for $11.49 USD.

The quality of sound from this speaker is exactly what we've been looking for.

New to the hobby

What is the best starter HO set to buy that is under $100?  Also, what type of track (EZ track, etc.) would be the best to get if we decide to expand from a 4 x 8 table top in the living room, to a larger area in the garage? Thanks

Upgrade MRC Prodigy Express

I would be grateful to anyone who has upgraded their basic Prodigy Express and would share the experience.  That would include technical steps, cost, and anything else I need to do.

I do want the system to hold more than 5 addresses,  I plan to have simple operating sessions with two to four operators.

I have attempted to contact MRC but they have not returned my call.

Thanks in advance,
