Scenery going in at Cascade Creek

I finally got around to doing a little more scenery work on my layout.  I'm extending it railroad west a few feet at a time.  Maybe one of these days I'll even plant some trees instead of looking at a barren desert!  There's nothing especially unusual about what I am doing, but maybe it will be interesting and/or useful to somebody out there.

I'll make this post short and sweet, and then add another meaty one with description and photos.

Layout design

Hello all,

I am finally in a position to build a permanent layout after a wait of six years.

The problem is, I can't seem to come up with an N scale track plan I really like.

Reverse loop - where to put insulators

I'm hopefully going to be putting the reverse loops into one side of the layout in the next couple weeks and thought I should ask the question - where is it best to put the insulators?  I planned to put them immediately after each turnout and isolate the entire loop, but is this recommended or as long as I have plenty of track for the locos to be entirely within the isolated area all that is important?  I assume the latter, but can a reversing section be too long as well?

Using LED 's with Aux-box

I am considering using an AUX -BOX to turn power on and off in a passenger terminal

can I also use LED's toindicate if power is on or off to the individual tracks

If so How can I do this

Thanks

Richard

New Bright Holiday Express

I am a G scale modeler with a front yard layout. At the various holidays, I run my trains for the neighborhood kids. Halloween I ran a modified Bachmann 4-6-0 decorated for the evening. During the Christmas holidays I like to run a Santa train when my schedule allows. The last several years I have run a variety of trains, but mostly a USA Trains passenger set from 2000 that runs well.

The Staging Yard is going in

Staging yard is the bottom Deck of the bench work.  Stage Yard "A" is shown on the left and Stage Yard "B" is on the wall in the back of the photo.  Stage yard "C" is not built yet.

My Potential Layout Area

Here's the area I am thinking about for an N Scale Layout. It used to host a bar area in my Home Theater Area. It's shape think would work well for a build up, I'd like to hear opinions and suggestions.

new layout perhaps

Hi folks,

Looking for some thoughts here -I am not a pro when it comes to make really neat layouts, but like to create.  Just seeking thoughts on this plan-the blue is the out of bounds area, but the white area is what you have to work with...your thoughts

Would it be something you would use to build a layout, if there was a chance you may move in the next 10-15yrs?
