As you can see, I have fitted the previous board to the new one. There is a discrepancy of height between them. The new addition is set higher than the main board as there will be two levels on the track and by starting in the middle, I can make the resulting grades less than if I had everything starting at the lower level. The existing off scene staging is a board 3' x 8". This will be added along the front of the main board. This will give me a proper end to end option rather than an out-and-back style.

I am wiring a wye  for  DCC with an auto reverser. I remember reading several times that the gap section needs to be longer than the longest train.  Problem is the  wye legs are only 24 inches. The wiring diagrams all show the gaps to be in one leg of the wye  This means I can not have any train more than 3-4 freight cars.  Is there a solution to this?

Just received my second test shell from Shapeways this evening...

There were two pieces in the box: the shell itself, and a replacement front pilot.  The shell fits onto the Kato donor chassis nice and tight.  The walls are a bit thicker than the first shell.  They still bow slightly inwards; but that's no a problem once the mechanism is in place (the diecast chassis buttresses the insides of the shell).
