Trackwork
Connecting modules, and yard layout...
Hi all,
I’m designing the track layout for an extension to an existing shelf layout and looking for opinions and ideas.
Liftgate for modules at shows
I would to hear from you that have been involved with the construction of lift-gate modules for shows. We display at the Champlain Valley Fair, Essex Jct. VT for 10 days the week before Labor Day. This a combined effort of the Northwestern Vermont Model RR and the Green MT div of the NMRA. Would like to hear about your experience and a possible and photo of your lift-gate or ones you have seen. The loop is the NWV and the stub on the end is Bellows Falls, VT module of the Greenmountain Division of the NMRA. My goal is to build a lift-gate for this year.

A&C Layout Update
Doing the article for MRH put some more motivation in me to get some work done on the layout. I've been spending a lot of time lately on getting cars and locomotives built, detailed and weathered. I'll be at the N Scale Convention in Salt Lake City in a few weeks displaying models and entering them in the contest. When I need a break from that, I've been working on backdrops and getting the Blythe Branch operational.

Does anyone have an electric liftup that is simple
Has anyone made or done a electric lift up. Can you show a pic and tell us how this is possible. Is it reasonably cheap? Is there already a product out there etc. Solving he doorway entrance to the train room.

Peco SL-U8363 - Double Slip Switch...
So I have received my new Peco - Double Slip Switch, over the next two days I will be installing it into the mainline at Shippensburg and connecting it to the storage tracks (north & south) on the layout.

My bridge Video page 4. Photos page 3
When you are just starting out you tend to plan out as much as possible because being new, one can make many more mistakes so it does take a while to get going. But it is good to start starting the start of the layout and purposely leave somethings to when you only get around to it. "I'll cross that bridge when i come to it. For me this is that time and it looks difficult. Any suggestions?

New Peco - Double Slip Switch for the track work...

staging in a helix
I think this has been discussed before, but what are your thoughts of laying a second track on a helix, and using it for a staging yard? The helix will have 4 turns totalling over 80 feet, enough to stage 4, 20' trains on my layout.

Cookie Cutting or Spline
I did a bit cookie cutting for the layout recently but I do have a few more curves coming up and i'm liking the spline idea. I downloaded "Run like a Dream" recently, and was thinking if anyone has had or find this easy to do. Being in Australia we don't seem to have homasote but looks like it is absorbent material. Being new at this hoping to avoid making the wrong choice but the fun is trying different stuff out to see if it works. James

Staging Deck Development has begun...
So given the cold & wet weather that has descended on Melbourne today I decided to finish off the day in the warmth of the house and begin designing the staging level for the layout.
