Micro wire repair - any suggestions?
I noticed a very small wire came loose from the plug on my Athearn Genesis #844 steam loco (see photos).
Does anyone have suggestions on how to repair this?
My primary concern is how to get that wire back into that tiny plug and make it stay there. It kind of looks like the metal receiver in the plug might need to come out and get re-inserted after I've inserted the wire.
Thanks!
Question for O scalers about 40' cars...
So...
I work for a local big box store that shall remain nameless...
Today, one of my regular customers came in and handed me a box. He is moving, and is trying to find homes for some things. He knows me as a fellow model railroader, but I have a bit of an issue. The box contained 6 O scale standard gauge freight cars. 2 40' boxcars, 2 40' Reefers, a tank car, and a wood-sided caboose.
AK Interactive Trainspotting review
AK Interactive is a well known brand of modeling supplies, mostly paints and similar products, such as weathering washes, pigments and filters. Although mainly focused on military modelers it recently made some inroads into model railroading, with 2 sets of weathering products, one for locomotives and other for railcars.
It also published a book, named "trainspotting" to address the needs of model railroaders and military modelers wishing to depict a railroad scene (there are several static models of European trains, in 1:35, 1:72 and 1:87).
Two New Haven boxcars
I was down in West Linncott and shot these two Hew Haven boxcars standing there. I always liked the large script logo used on these cars at that time. Here we find a Pullman Standard PS-1 on the left and an AAR 1937 car on the right.
Question About Upgrading Box Car Details
Hey guys. I've been meaning to start a weathering project for a boxcar I bought off of Ebay and was wondering if I could get your help with it. I picked up an old Athearn? 50' boxcar decorated for the Marinette Tomahawk & Western Railway. I had intended to weather it for a Hartford & Slocomb patchout but the MTW car was hard to come by for a price I could live with. I eventually settled for the older, less detailed model because I was willing to take the necessary steps to upgrade it.
ROLLING STOCK AND N-SCALE CODE 55 TRACK
I am planning on using Code 55 track on my new n-scale layout. I understand that on some rolling stock the wheel flanges are too wide for Code 55 track, but will fit Code 80.
When looking at purchasing rolling stock, how do I tell that cars/ motive power I buy will have flanges that will fit Code 55 track? Are they labeled in a special way?
Anyone have an ORER from 1991 or newer?
I'm trying to research some information on Norfolk Southern depressed center flatcars. The only ORER I currently have is from October 1988, and NS as we know it now didn't come into existence until 1990. Hence, Norfolk Southern doesn't even exist in my book.
I'm looking for details on depressed center flatcars around the number series containing NS 185220. In general, I'm also looking for details on other similar cars with AAR type codes F431 and/or F331.
Thanks!
Craig
