Locos - Rolling stock (general)

N Scale loco for super tight turns

I'm thinking about building a small N Scale pizza layout with Kato 117mm track. I just want to make a circle so it will fir on a 1x1' piece of wood. Any ideas about what locos would run. I'd love to find a small steam engine but the only loco I can find are the trams that Kato sells. I really don't want to model a city scene so I'm looking at other options

Thanks-Tim

MKT Heavyweight Passenger Car Numbers

Good evening, all.

I'm looking for information on MKT's roster numbering for their heavyweight cars. Specifically, their number series of 12-1 sleeping cars. I've checked between the three reference books I own and searched online, to no avail. Is there anyone here that might be able to shed some light on their roster numbering system?

Thank you in advance!

How do you improve electrical pickup in locos with contacts embedded in the sideframe (BLI, Genesis, Kato, etc)?

While testing a decoder install in a Broadway Limited SW1500, it would occasionally stall for no apparent reason. To get it going again, all I would need to do is push one of the axles all the way to one side.

smooth rolling trucks

Occasionally I splurge and spend what I call high end prices on rolling stock- $35 to $50 a car, however I mostly stay within the $25 to $35 range when purchasing rolling stock due to budget etc., Now I know the old saying is you get what you pay for, I have purchased Walther's "mainline" 50ft box cars $24,  on a scale of 1 to 10 in roll ability I give them a 3 or 4 at best, on a slight grade and a small nudge they stop within the grade, that's great if my spur is on a grade but not so great when creating drag during operating.

Genesis 2-8-2 and 2 sound decoders not working well.

I have an Athearn Genesis 2-8-2 that was straight DC.

I run my layout with the NCE PowerHouse Pro radio system.

I installed a Soundtraxx ECO100 steam decoder and at first it worked fine then after a bit it would cut out, restart, cutout when running over speed step 10. I had no issues if I ran it on speed step 10 or less.

3 axle passenger cars

I have 3 axle Walthers trucks on some passenger cars. The mid axle has no side ways movement, and as a consequence, the cars derail. Any solutions would be much appreciated. Thanks. foalma.
