Locos - Rolling stock (general)
Looking for some decal help
Some 30 years ago I bought a dozen MDC 26' ore cars (HO). I did not care about prototypical correctness nor was I discriminating wrt roadname or car color: I bought whatever the LHS had in stock, brown black, silver, blue... I recently received another dozen of these from a friend who was clearing out his standard-gauge inventory. I have tuned these up so they roll again (a bit of rust on the axle points is an effective brake). Now, I'd like to repaint all 2 dozen and apply new lettering.
Rapido Trains continues to innovate
I just have to "blow the horn" of Rapido Trains, an MRH sponsor. Their detailed models have set the bar high for a lot of manufacturers and their latest FP9 continues to set the standards for what a plastic loco can be. One of these innovations (in conjunction with Soundtraxx), is to add the doppler effect to their array of sounds. Take a listen:
Bowser Locomotives
I have my eye on a new HO Bowser AS-616 locomotive. This will be my first Bowser loco, as I only have Athearn, Atlas and Proto 2000 in my fleet. Need opinions on the Bowser line of loco's.
Scratchbuilt Locomotive ready for first run
I sent this to the members of the club and thought a few of you might enjoy it.
Greenpoint Dock and Transfer Company Rolling Stock Fleet
This blog will serve as a reference for rolling stock weathering techniques I use on the rolling stock of the Greenpoint Dock & Transfer company. As cars are deemed complete photos and a summary of techniques used will be added to the post
magnets on rubber brake hoses
This follows an earlier thread on increasing operating realism on switching layouts with a small inventory of rolling stock.
Has anyone contemplated the addition of micromagnets to the end of rubber brake lines on rollingstock so that they can be connected and disconnected realistically?
It would mean that each car could only be connected in one direction but this would not be significant on a layout without a turnback loop.
Searching
Has anyone information on either purchasing or making "flags" for engines and crummys (white for extras and green for followingsection) and attaching them?
Second search is for a pair of "elephant ears" either purchase or instructions on making them - I have a Mikado that the NKP used for passenger service and would like to detail it correctly.
Thanks.
thoughts on on-board sound
I don't want to hi-jack this thread, but it would help me a lot to hear from others about their experience with on board sound. I know that likes and dislikes are very subjective, but I really don't want to spend the extra money now to get steam engine sounds that I won't like.
C630M
Well, my day was going great and it got even better when I got home and found that my CP script C630M had arrived. After carefully opening the parcel things went south pretty fast though.
Onboard coupler clank sounds from freight cars
Hello all
Is there any products out there that would allow for coupler clank sound effects to be generated from within a freight car automatically?
