Southern Ry. models, especially steam!

Since the subject has come up on the Bachmann thread, I thought I'd start a new thread here and avoid getting too off-topic over there.  Let's talk about buying or building models of Southern Ry. (US, not UK, though that would be interesting too) rolling stock.

I need some help IDing a Loco.

This is a brass loco that I am selling for our club. It is a dc made in Korea. It did not come as a NS. It was painted and decaled this way to keep finger prins off it. Let me know what you think it is. Also if you have an idea of the value let me know. Please over look the dust. I did not realize it was this bad.

Thanks

Alan

Help for Rivarossi parts

Need help. Trying to locate parts for an older Rivarossi PennRR GG-1. The center hub on one of the drive axle wheels has broken in storage. I have noticed that Rivarossi has new ownership. I need to know where to turn. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

End Ladders

Hello Everyone.

Engine Wiring Help: N-Scale, Spectrum No. 82153, N&W 6llJ

I was given this engine that someone had taken apart thinking the motor was bad.  I tested the motor and it runs; but, there are two wires in the bundle of 6 black wires that goes from the tender to the engine.  There is a circuit board in between and if you hold the board looking at the non-printed side with the black wires down, the two wires, looking left to right, would be the second and third wires - were does the other end hook to?

It would be great if someone had a schematic diagram for this engine and could send it pdf.

How to use a Bowser DUMMY streetcar?

I went to the Bower site, an advertiser listed as a new sponsor in the November 26 MRH email.

Bowser lists some PCC streetcar units described as dummy (-- souvenier --), priced under $40.00.  How can they be used in modeling prototype operation?  I didn't see any couplers.

Or are they just for display on yard track, in car barns, etc.?

Thanks ##

Another F40PHM-2 Update

Just received my second test shell from Shapeways this evening...

There were two pieces in the box: the shell itself, and a replacement front pilot.  The shell fits onto the Kato donor chassis nice and tight.  The walls are a bit thicker than the first shell.  They still bow slightly inwards; but that's no a problem once the mechanism is in place (the diecast chassis buttresses the insides of the shell).

help with replacement coupler

can anyone identify this coupler?

I have about 20 old Bachman cars that have this coupler.  I want to change them to knuckle type.  I bought some Kadee #148's.  they fit but the hole is much larger then the original hole.  I'm thinking of just drilling the hole larger and using a bigger screw.  Does anyone know if there is a direct replacement for this?  I looked at the kadee web site but couldn't identify this coupler/car combo.

I guess it make a good "How to" tip, lol.
