Ideal Cement - Industry on the 8th Sub
The latest industry for my Western Pacific 8th Subdivision is largely complete. Ideal Portland Cement was slated to occupy a key location on some narrow benchwork, and the final shape and size needed to be known before completing the roadbed through the area. Previous versions of the 8th Sub have also included cement plants, but this is the largest complex yet. I wanted a major industry that could ship a dozen hopper loads at a time.
Richlawn RR - The Henderson Building - store front progress
Work continues on the Henderson Building that will find a home in the Hoovertown downtown expansion. This building will be viewed from approximately three feet - thus the "good enough" principal when it comes to finish. The ground floor store front is occupied by Pelletier Travel. The window printing is printed backwards on the rough side (required for printing) of 3M(tm) transparency film. The travel posters in the windows are printed on card stock that is bowed (curved) to fill the windows and open at the top to allow light from the "light pole"
Ghost River Scratchbuilds
Below is a photo of the most recent additions to the Ghost River Rwy.
Both structures are scratchbuilt, including the ladder, with scale wood cut in my shop. The only commercial items are the pulleys, the spout (a straw), bolt detail and the counterwights (spru). More service detail and a small cabin still need to be added to the scene. A wood burning Climax is the loco assigned to Camp 1, hence the need for the wood shed.

Scenery - structures
Here is a 1906 cafe building begging to be modeled, cables and all:
Wire support of landscape
This is kinda' a blast from the past, but I thought that it might be helpful to those that are thinking about constructing scenery that is vertical and needs support. I thought about many options to support the landscape before I happend to notice a 15' section of wire fence just sitting in my back yard not being used.
Bought a craftsman structure kit? Why or why not?
Okay, we have the other thread on what is a craftsman structure kit - now let me take a different tact in this thread.
Have you ever BOUGHT a craftsman structure kit? Who did you buy it from and why?
Would you buy a craftsman structure kit from any of our sponsors? We have these sponsors who sell "craftsman structure kits" in one form or another:
BBQ or Outdoor Fireplace
Hello, am modeling a scenic overlook area set up with a picnic area. I have the picnic tables, but want to buy 2-4 BBQ grill or outdoor fireplace items. Was hoping for the brick version. Can find sets with people, tables and such, but I ONLY need the actual grill/fireplace items. Any one out there know were I can buy just these items? Website? Thanks, oh, and please respond off net to rlandr0718@att.net.
Sorry, forgot to mention, this is HO scale..
