B.T.S. Slaty Fork Mill Lights
I have almost completed my HO B.T.S. Slaty Fork Mill and am interested in lighting it. I already have the lights for the outside but would like to do the inside as well. Has anyone already done this? Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks
Ocean Harvest Seafoods Old Billboard Signage
Here's the latest project to be installed on the Washington Northern. Ocean Harvest Seafoods got it's old billboard style signage on the rooftop. The sign was scratchbuilt using dimensional styrene, parts from the scrapbox, and some menu board letters purchased on Ebay. I attempted to weather the sign to represent it as having been in place for decades. Typically, these types of signs would have had illumnated letters, but I couldn't come up with a feasible way of accomplishing that. Curious if anybody has any ideas of how that might have been possible?

Looking for repository of high resolution building photos
I want to make some backdrop buildings by gluing photos of buildings to foam board, I have a few photos of buildings that I've taken squared to the building, but I wondered if there is a collection of high resolution photos somewhere that can be used to this.
Thanks,

Here is a very interesting video I came across when I was researching ore operations for a spot on my layout
I am getting ready for maybe a ore operation for my water front or I am looking into a carfloat operation. I am
leaning more towards the car float. But like I said this video was interesting.

Concrete piers with sheetrock mud
I created the bridge piers by cutting 7/16 OSB to size and then covering it with sheetrock "mud". Then after drying, I carefully shape it with a knife and sandpaper. Coloring is washes of paints and india ink.
This is my Skagg's Hole Bridge, first ever scratchbuild project, on my Virginia Southern layout. The VS is the merger of the Clinchfield and Interstate, set in the mid 70's. Layout is a 27x32 HO triple decker.
Enjoy!
Hydrocal castings/structure kits Pros/Cons? are they popular across scales or just in HO?
Hi all.
Was wondering about structure kits containing hydrocal(a form of plaster) castings. How do they rate as far quality, strength, detail and price and popularity and what scales typicaly use that kind of material? Not interested in a particular manufacturer just the material in general.

HO scale Chain Link Fences...
Hi All,
Just after some advice on what others have used for chain link fences on their layouts. I've purchased a Walthers kit for the module I'm currently working on. But I will need a considerable amount more for the layout, and it is getting increasingly hard to find the Walthers kits here in Australia.
Has anybody actually scratch built a chain link fence using Evergreen styrene and a chain link alternative like fly wire screen for example?
Cheers,

Building Flats vs. ?
I am in the process of designing an industrial switching shelf layout and am wondering if there is any scenic advantage to having buildings on the backdrop having any thickness to them. I initially started with the buildings that would have rail sidings be up to two inches thick to have them stand off from the backdrop which would also have printed buildings on them for depth. I am not sure if the effect would be just as good if these customer structures were building flats. If I can gain an inch, or so by making the structures flats, I could use that inch or so el
