renwal ho scale gantry crane.
has anybody ever built and used the renwal ho scale gantry crane?
Bridge track on through truss?
I have some ME "bridge" track (basically: closer tie spacing than standard mainline track, and includes the extra rail to make a guard rail). I know that trestles use this kind of track, and deck bridges generally. Would the same be true of a through truss bridge?
Making trees
I saw a video on making trees with woodland scenic armatures, twine and coarse turf. Here is the results I got. What do you think?
Installing Vinyl flooring for a backdrop
I saw a video a couple of months ago on how to install vinyl flooring as a backdrop. I thought I had tagged it on my desktop for future reference but to my surprise I didn't. I was wondering if anyone can send me a video link so I can get my layout up and running?

Penn Lake 8: Building the Buildings (Update 10/18/16)
One of the benefits of maintaining mostly the same theme, is I can reuse nearly all my large buildings. Some of them need altered somewhere to fit the their new locations. Luckily I cataloged their construction, so I could match the paint. Also because some of them are sizable, I'm placing them as I lay track so that everything meshes properly. Added bonus...they come off the storage shelves...allowing me to put other stuff on the shelves.
Scratch Build Grain Elevator Progress
Just some pictures of the progress of my scratch build grain elevator.
110 volt static grass applicator
3 or 4 years ago I bought the 120 volt negative ion generator from Electronic warehouse. I had, somewhere on this PC, a detailed article on how to build the 120 volt unit. Now after two days of looking I can't find it. The article used PVC piping and a plastic tub for the grass. The instructions on both the construction of the receptacle and handle and the wiring were very specific and well detailed. I don't remember the author's name.
While on the Subject of Fascia
Jim has another thread going on the color of fascias, and I have other questions on the subject, so started this thread.
What method are most folks using to apply the paint? Brush, roller, spray?
If one is spraying, it seems it would limit you to a rather narrow selection of colors (assuming you're using rattle cans . . . can't imagine using an airbrush for such a large area).
If brushing or rolling paint, then I assume the logical choice is to simply use wall paint in whatever degree of sheen (or not) that you want.
Fascia color/paint
I am nearing the point where I am going to start mounting hardboard/masonite fascia to bench work. I've noticed that many layouts will paint an appropriate color on the fascia to compliment the type of layout they have and us a color which also does not draw too much attention to it either. Some older examples I recall include Rick Rideout's Henderson Div L&N, David Barrows Cat Mountain, and more recently, Rob Spanglers WP 8th Subdivision.
