passenger car lighting

I'm a new member, and like your forums. I am a grand-dad, and just getting
into G-scale LGB with my grandson. I am having a problem trying to figure
out how to get some lighting in a couple passenger cars. All the cars we
have so far have plastic wheels. I think I would like to go the track
pickup route, but would like to see pictures or video on how to hook this up

Any help would be greatly apprecmated

3.5 Wye - Help me do the math...

I need to understand the math to install an Atlas 3.5 Wye to connect two parallel tracks to converge via the wye into one track.

The center-lines of the parallel tracks will be ~ 3 to 4 inches apart, depending on what radius and length of track I need to make this work. I will be running passenger cars, so it is critical that I have good length and radii for this...

Portals ???

Anyone care to take a guess as to what they think these "originally" were, what they are made of and where you might find them ?  Think hard. wink

To the best of my knowledge you cannot buy them at your LHS.  However, under the right conditions you could come across them and and not believe your good fortune.

IRS could really help our layout budgets - Form 8900

Hi All

While searching for a form for a client, I ran across this.  Too bad us little guys can't use it.  Apparently the big boys can get a credit (a $ for $ reduction in actual tax owed) on track maintenance equal to the lesser  of 50% of actual maintenance expenditures or $3500/mile of track operated.  I have tried to enclose an image of the form, but have not had any success.  For anyone interested - go to:

Why Participate on MRH Forum?

I read this post by Kevin on another MRH thread. It saddened me. Made me think "why participate more than the occasional reply to a thread?"

...I don't post anything that I do here anymore, and I won't likely be doing that,...

Ditch the "Reverse Running" column?

I'm reminded of the movie "Groundhog Day" where a guy's life starts to repeat over and over......

Every month a good hearted (and I believe good intentions) entertaining "Reverse Running" column is published in MRH magazine.

And then it starts..................................

And escalates........................................................................

And the web thread gets locked ........................................................

Spotting SPAMERS

Just took a look at "Who's new" I bet this guy is a spammer. "zEUzMHWQCpRR"

Moderator Edit:
That is a fairly good assumption, and yes it would seem that your are correct. But it is not quite that easy, there are some very easy telltale signs that I will not mention (do not want to highlight what we look for, so the spammers can change it) that can trigger an immediate block of an account, but in this case I will watch and wait as its not a clear case to hit the big red button...

Post Signatures with Website Links

I've noticed a number of y'all have links to your personal MR website in your signatures.  Have this caused a big increase of spam to your website as a result of website crawlers mining information from the MRH forum?

I'd like to add mine, but thought I'd get a consensus from those already doing this before committing mine.

Thanks in advance for any comments.
