Blog post - trouble with formatting IE

Hi,

Please take a look at this post http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/1082 in IE 7. One of the images floats over the text. I can't seem to do anything from preventing the behavior.

Judicious use of spaces allows me to format it acceptably for Firefox although there are still some goofy formatting issues here and there.

I have to jump through a lot of hoops to make my stuff show up the way I want using the editor. I am starting to think I am better off just inserting HTML directly?

Update to Quicktime 7.6 recommended

I had trouble with Issue 2 on two computers.  Running windows XP SP2.  Issue 1 ran fine.

Issue 2 problem I could run in full screen mode but video would not play and would not play with sound on another computer.

Solution was to install new version of QuickTime 7,6 which is free on internet http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Opened up Issue 2 downloads to the world ...

We've opened up Issue 2 downloads to the world. Enough people have contacted us and they can't log in because they can't remember their user name and password.

The worst of the initial download surge has shown this site can handle it so we're opening up the pipe early to see if we can peg things!

Tell everyone to come and get it! No log in is required ...

Issue 2 LITE Permissions glitch ... but fixed now

We had a permissions glitch that prevented most logged in subscribers from accessing the Issue 2 LITE download page - but it's fixed now.

When I log in as our low-level test user, he can get to the download page now, but kept getting a "you can't access this page" error before with a guy making an ugly face before.

Otherwise, the site's handling the load very well, and the downloads are proceeding well.

Much better than Issue 1's launch!

Blog formats not working like they did..

Hi,

I am having two problems with the blogs:

1) The text no longer seems to wrap around images. Was this intended? Now all the cases where I put in text next to a small image are either above or below the image.

2) Activating the "super user" editor" brings up errors whenever a page with an edit window is opened..

Thanks,

Chris

LITE Edition download LINK broken from Jan 22 - Jan 26th

Apparently we made a change to our LITE Edition download on January 22nd and it broke the download link. We've now fixed the link today (Jan 26th) and all is good again.

Sorry for the inconvenience - we need to always test our download links again whenever we change something!

What was changed, you ask? We tweaked a few things in the LITE Edition to make it more friendly on Macs. Macs running the new Leopard OS should now be able to view the LITE Edition with Preview (no Adobe Reader "bloatware" needed).

MRH Issue 1 - LITE Edition is now available!

MRH Issue 1 LITE Edition here!  Click to download (19 MB).

The LITE Edition uses lower quality graphics, minimal rich media, and downgraded features to make it a much smaller download and viewable in any reader that can display your typical Adobe Reader 7 PDF.

At 19 MB, MRH is now also much more dial up friendly than the almost 80 MB PREMIUM Edition.

Can't get video to run on the magazine

I have downloaded this gorgeous magazine and can't get the video to run. I've tried all the troubleshooting hints to no avail, and I'm hoping someone out there brighter than me can help. Here's where I stand. When I try and play a video clip I get an error screen that says "Warning: Javascript Window. Acrobat has encountered an error when playing this media clip...". I'm using Windows XP on a PC with Firefox as my browser. I have installed, uninstalled, and re-installed Adobe Reader9, and have downloaded the magazine twice.

Getting MRH Issue 1 to work on Macs

So far we've been able to determine that MRH Issue 1 works fine on older Macs running OS X 10.4.11 (tiger).

However, the newer op system Leopard appears to have many problems.

Could those of you out there with Macs please post your experiences trying to read issue 1? Please note model of machine and precise OS version you're using so we can look for patterns.

MRH Issue 1 problems?

We've opened up a new troubleshooting thread for dealing with any problems people may have with our "bleeding edge" rich media content.

In order to keep the other comment threads clear of off-topic problems people may be having with some part of the mediaZine, please use this section of the forum. If you post a troubleshooting problem elsewhere, it will be moved here to keep off-topic noise to a minimum on the other threads.

One thing early downloaders may notice with issue 1 is the comment threads don't work yet. You may get a "not authorized" message.
