Locos and rolling stock

Decals over decals?

Hi all,

I am painting/decal-ing/weathering a PRR P5A box cab E-loco around 1951.My question is that I have MicroScale blank Keystones for the doors at either end. These however will require the road number in them.So,...should I shoot some gloss cote on these or can I just apply the numbers over the blank Keystone?

Thanks for any help,Dr D

Getting started for the first time - again.

Over the past few years I have been collecting motive power for a layout that I have finally started. If I strike the correct keys, the photos will be posted here. If not, well, I'll try again! All of the models are 1/2" scale and use On30 track gauge for Gn15. If all goes well, I will make further comments...

pre-WW1 hi-rail in HO?

Has anybody tried to accurately model a pre-WW1 era car with railroad wheels in HO scale?  Powered would be nice, but dummy would be good as well.

5' wheelbase Andrews trucks in HO?

Before i start digging through my scrap bin and carrying a ruler around the hobby shop, I'm hoping maybe somebody can point me in the right direction.

I need some Andrews tender trucks with a 5' wheelbase.  Actually, all I need are the side frames, as they're going on a loco that already has wheels (tender drive).  Yes, I know it's short.  They should be 5'6, but I cannot easily change the mechanism so I want a compromise.

Kadee Truck Trouble

Hi All - I just replaced some old trucks on a couple of old Blue Box kits with Kadee 500 Bettendorfs.  The improvement in appearance is fantastic, however I am having fits with derailments.  These trucks are derailing at switches, on curves and one set keeps derailing in the middle of a nice strait section - areas where I've never had issue before.

I am hoping some of you will share some pictures of your weathered rolling stock. I always love to see other peoples work and of course learn something new!

Roundhouse Loco won't run in reverse (DC)

I have a near-new Roundhouse 4-4-0 ... has DCC on board but I am using DC only. It has recently refused to run in reverse. Anyone else have this problem, or got an idea why?

Thanks,  Skip Luke
