La Belle kits...

Has anyone here built any of the La Belle Woodworking kits?  https://www.labellemodels.com/

They look interesting, but I'm wondering how difficult they are to build.

AHM Flexi-Flo hopper-FINISHED

The AHM car is toy that has potential. I'm spent several hours deconstructing the car before I could start building.

I rebuilt the end platforms, removed the vertical side ribs, to small, and did lots of work to improve the body ends.

I'm rebuilding the hopper bottoms which is a chore. Plano has a kit coming out next month, that's what made me

dig this 22 year old project out of the junk box. The side ribs will be replaced with .060 half round that's on order.

Modeling Slugs N Scale

anybody model any N scale slugs?

thinking about tackling this "bash" to have one on the roster

never did a "bash" of this level so it will be a big learning curve surprise

thinking of starting with a burned up atlas loco and modify / order parts as needed

got any ideas or other info that might be helpful?

Atlas GP39-2 parts

Anyone know why Atlas does not list parts for the GP39-2 on their website?

Atlas Parts department has traditionally been a kitbasher's friend and I would love to put together some GP39-2 dummies using Atlas shells and Athearn frames, but they simply don't have the parts listed on the site.

Direction of Southern GP-30s

I have a rather odd question.  I am trying to replicate Southern Railway's GP-30 #2601, which itself has been preserved at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC.  In doing research, I have ran across a photo of the 2601 after restoration, with the "F" to indicate "Front" at the short hood end of the loco.  Were not all of Southern's fleet set up to run long hood forward, or was the GP-30 class different?  Or, was 2601 reconfigured to run short hood forward?

Diesel hand rails

I building a pair of Pro 2000 SD 7 locos and I don't like the hand rials that came with them. Does anyone know of a company that offers metal hand rails for them? It seems I remember an article in MR about building hand rails but now I can't find it now, anyone remember that article and what issue it was in?

A couple of clips from the R&W all Alco fleet

Clips show an RS11 RS36 C420 lashup arriving into the R&W yard, we then see MLW 4503 depart with a C424/5 C420 RS36 convoy. Clip 1 is an all Lenz Silver convoy, clip 2 is all Zimo MX63/64R. All locos set to the same speed table but there's a difference in response between the 2 decoders. I'm happy with this as the  layout in reality sees only 1 or 2 loco consists.

How best to remove molded on details?

I have a couple of Roundhouse Boxcab shells that I plan to put onto Bachmann 44 tonner frames.  I want/need to neatly remove the molded on ladders on each side to replace them with individual drop grabirons (Tichy 18" drop grabirons look to fit just right, and are in my parts box.)

Happy (early) Father's Day to me!

When the Mrs. asked what I wanted for Father's Day I already had the answer - An Athearn Genesis GP38-2 with Tsunami sound!  And I knew right where to get it at a great price - from TrainMasters Hobby in Buford, GA (my old stomping grounds).  They have a wonderful store along with a nice website and ebay presence.  The loco came in today and here's a picture of it on my layout in one of the started scenic areas: (PC users can click on the picture for a larger view).
