GATX Airslide hoppers - history and paint schemes questions? w/ images
Hi everyone, so thank you for reading this. I am trying to figure out the history of this hopper. It says built 6-72 and a had polycluch applied in 10-92. Did it have this blue GATX paint scheme since 1972? with the Italgrani logo? Was this later? Was this strictly in use for Italgrani? I am really trying to use this for my 1980s era layout and hoping I can just change the 10-92 date and maybe erase the Italgrani black/white stripe? Any links or thoughts would be great! Thanks in advance!

Making decals with printer and decal paper question
I'll be looking to make some decals for some special rolling stock, and printing them on decal paper with an inkjet, or having Staples laser print them, if they can use decal paper in their printer. The paper is 8 1/2 x 11--but how many pixels per inch should my pics be when I send to the printer?
Thanks!
And a happy holliday to all!
3D printing to resin casting: idea for a long-term project
I lived outside of D.C. briefly, and since then, I've thought it would be fun to try to scratchbuild an HO scale set of Washington Metro's 1000-series railcars. I'd given it a try way back then using styrene and wasn't happy with the results. (I also had never built anything with styrene before. I still haven't built much with styrene!) I'd posted on either the AMR lines or Freerails forum at the time.
Custom painted D&RGW C-19 in HOn3
Hi all!
This is my latest project:
A D&RGW C-19 in HOn3. The model is in brass from Samhongsa (Key imports) that I have painted and decaled..
A bit more detail painting to do and some weathering.
I have added electric pickups on all drive wheels as well. The sound decoder goes in next.
Steam Switchers on the Mainline
I had a question pertaining to the use of steam switchers particularly geared towards the Great Northern but also other transition era railroads as well.
I recently came across a GN 0-8-0 yard switcher in one of my books on the GN where classification lights were added periodically for service outside the yard in Grand Forks, ND. My question is what kind of jobs were steam switchers used on with the GN and other roads requiring them to go out on the mainline?
Athearn flywheel sleeve
Does any company make a sleeve to allow Athearn bluebox type flywheels that have a 3 mm motor shaft diameter to be used on the newer can motors that have a 2 mm shaft diameter?
Suggestions?
Thanks

Adding Pickup to a Steam Locomotive
I have a steam locomotive that I'd like to add additional electrical pickups to. I don't have any phosphor bronze wire on hand but do have collection of old guitar strings. I am wondering if that would work in a pinch? Any ideas or opinions?
Climax color scheme--request thoughts
I'm making a second Class A Climax based on the MDC Roundhouse shell and a Bachmann 44 tonner. The first one (which still needs some weathering and assorted gear) looks good, but I wanted to have a little bit of color for the second one. Although a working locomotive, she gets a bit more attention paid to her looks--she sometimes pulls the owner of the company, and also pulls a few open air cars down the otherwise abandoned route through the rather scenic gorge, so she's going to be painted green as well as black. I'm just trying to decide what parts would look
