Wausau & Western - a MILW Subsidiary
Hello guys! I made a new topic (my previous was "Layout from Slovenia") for my layout Wausau and Western - a MILW Subsidiary, 1950-1959. It is a freelance layout, my imagination. I've been modeling on the layout for the last 5, 6 months and here I have the result. The structures are kits (Downtown Deco and Monster Modelworks) or my scratch built projects. All the conifers I made by myself using different kinds of techniques. The deciduous trees are natural material (Super Trees).

Is there any demand for John Lab's Ballst, Rocks, or Grass
Hello all
I just acquired a huge collection of a bunch of astuff, including John Lab's various products he produced. What I am wondering is, are there still modelers out there who still use this product, since it hasn't been madein quiite some time. Or since the brand has gone "extinct" no one is interested in buying and using it.
I am basically attempting to ascertain what kind of pricing I should ahve for it.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

Test of upload - loading dock fairly modern
This picture uploaded just fine. Magic Computer S#%# I guess... Guess I don't need a loading Doc....
Roads and parking lots.
A couple recent posts have started me thinking and rethinking roads and parking lots. Craig BNML2 and Nscaler 88 have brought two different approaches to the table recently.

Water Depth (HO)
I'll helping a friend who is modeling a portion of a shallow bay with concrete piers across it. The bay in HO scale would be 1-1.65" deep mimicking the real water. He has the room to model something like that but I was curious about pouring a water mix like Woodland Scenics (like their new water system) or another brand to that depth.
Should he do the full treatment as usual with painting and mimicking water depth, darkness, etc and pour the full height? In layers? Maybe 6-7 layers in the 1.65" inch areas?
Thanks.
Curved Backdrop as Scenic divider
My scenery plan is based on the idea of a series of discreet scenes. One of the reasons is that I am using photo backdrops. A painted backdrop can transition between scenes in a way that photo backdrops cannot. Has anyone used a curved back drop as a scenic divider? I've searched forums and not found anything.
On the attached 2 files (which are different versions of the same diagram) The thin lines are the photo-backdrops and the thick line is the track.
Has anyone seen photo-backdrops used this way?
Limestone bluffs?
I'm modeling, in N scale, the East Dubuque, Ill., area (IC, CB&Q, CGW) as it appeared in 1960-66. It is full scale, that is, no compression, so I've got my work cut out for me - I don't know how to go about modeling the limestone bluffs (a photo at RailPictures by Mike Danneman, with a west/north bound BN train, shows the bluffs in question):

Craftsmen Kit Sacrilege? Parting out a FSM kit
I went to a Hobby shop yesterday and he had two Fine Scale Miniatures kits. One was of a water tower and shed and the other a coal dock. I have heard the virtues of the quality and craftsmanship of these kits so I took a peek at the price tags on them. The kits were $20 a piece. I checked the kits in the store the water tower kits box was water damaged and was missing most of the wood pieces. It did have all the details and instructions to build the kit along with the drawings . The other kit seemed to be complete as all the bags inside were unopened.

Small Fuel Oil Dealers
Has anybody out there modeled a small Fuel Oil Dealer? If so would you be able to post up some pictures. I have built the Walthers McGraw Oil Dealer kit and am having a bit of a issue with how to place the various pieces. The instructions are a bit vague as to what might go where. I have a area that is wedged shaped, and serviced by one siding track which can hold 3 tank cars, but does have room enough for all of the items. I setup the 4 storage tanks in a straight line as opposed to the kits instructions which puts them in a square pattern.
Master Creations Car Float - Prototype?
I have been looking into car floats again and solutions for my logging and navigation company in the north west.
I came across the Master Creations Car Float.

Does anyone know if it was ever produced and second to that is it based on a prototype of any sort? I did a bit of hunting around but hevent been able to come across anything like it yet.
