Scenery and structures

Video overview of the Durango, Rico & Northern RR
Just a short overview video on the Durango, Rico & Northern, in sn3. Starting at Rockwood, over the Highline to North Fork, Timberline Jct. then to Scotch Creek and back.
Thanks for watching and enjoy.
Experience and opinions required
I now have a surplus of structures from my much larger past layout. I don't know if I should give them away or keep them for the unlikely event of a future larger layout. They are too delicate in my opinion to mail. What is a model railroader to do?

Soupy plaster - how soupy?
How soupy can I make plaster for pouring? I have a concrete area (about 4" x 12") that has poles and pipes coming out. I won't be able to use a screed and was hoping a soupier plaster mix combined with some vibration for air bubbles, the mix would works its way around everything.
I've read that the more water in the mix, the less strength it has. I assume once it evaporates, the mold area will not be full anymore. Maybe it will take another pour then? Thanks.

Partition between standard ballast and cinders
Hi everyone.
Getting on well now but need an answer to what should/might be a simple question. I am using Woodland Scenics fine blend grey ballast for my general track work but in the yard I would like to use cinders.
In those circumstances, how would the dividing ine between the two look? Would it be sharp or blended - and where would the cut off be?

Scratchbuilding - Door and Window Source
Hi everyone,
I am looking for sources of HO windows and doors for scratchbuilding. Primarily double hung and fixed windows, along with industrial doors. Grandt Line primarily sells more ornate designs than I need. Any recommendations would be great, or if you have an article recommendation on how to create them by yourself, that would be helpful as well.

Walthers Aggregate Transfer 933-4036
Hello everyone,
I just got the Aggregate Transfer facility which increases the number of loads that the Glacier Sand and Gravel can ship ! Yeah, more operations !
As I work on the rather tedious process of assembling the silos, panel by panel, I sit here wondering what composes the real construction materials? Are they precast concrete or some kind of metal product? The picture that Walthers presents gives me the idea that they are concrete, but I am not sure. The roof really screams,"I am steel, not concrete..."

Rivers & Streams [video]
Hey all,
I just recently posted my latest tutorial to YouTube, basically it's a tutorial all about building a scene that includes a river. It's quite a long video however when it comes to adding rivers and streams you don't want to rush anything because there's nothing worse than tearing up all that hard work and scenery due to a mistake.
Trackwork
Has anyone kitbashed a Central Valley through girder bridge into a skewed girder bridge? The abutments are angled and the ends of the girders are not perpendicular to each other. Through truss bridges are often skewed as well. I was recently exploring the George's Creek RR of the former Western Maryland (formerly Cumberland & Pennsylvania RR.) There are many crossings of George's Creek on skewed girder bridges.

Americanizing the Vollmer 2 stall engine house...what needs changing?
I'm building the Vollmer 2 stall engine house
https://www.walthers.com/products/layout/structures/railroad/two-stall-e...
From the looks of things, all that's needed to Americanize it is to change the clock and remove the fancy lattice trim along the roofline, and change the sign over the engine bays. Anything else need changing?

The Treasure State Railway
The Treasure State Railway.
This is a great layout of the late Pete Ellis. The video quality is not the best as the original 8 mm video was played on the TV and than recorded with a camcorder. There is also some distortion as the TV elongated horizontally to fit the video to the screen. 40 foot box cars look like 50 footers and the little consolidation looks lake a lot larger locomotive.
