PRR station sign colors
I'm terrible with colors (I'm colorblind) so I'm not sure what colors the PRR used on their station and tower signs in the 1950's. Can someone tell me what colors are used in this sign?
Thanks!
Scalples vs Xacto knives
While at the National Train Show today, I was talking to a woman about scratch building wooden structures. She said that she prefers scalples over xacto knives because they are sharper, stronger and can be sharpened. I thought I would try a couple. When I searched scalples in amazon.com I discovered that they also come in blade sizes similar to hobby knives. Does anyone know if a number 11 xacto blade and a number 11 scalple are basically the same?

Is there such a thing as a "walk only" track crossing?
I am a bit squeezed for space between these tracks and I would like to make a "walk only" crossing over one of the industry tracks. The building is a Quonset hut and in the image is the wrong way round. It should be showing the office door. In the UK we have small crossings just for foot use. Does the same happen in the US?

Beef Packing Plant illuminated interior details
Our club (Scarborough Model Railroaders, Toronto, Canada, era around 1958) is starting a project to illuminate the interiors of the buildings on our HO scale layout. I have volunteered to work on an interior for our beef packing plant.
Making a mud covered siding
The track is laid, the rails and ties painted, and the ballast secured,
but I wanted to create a look similar to this; more so the texture than matching the actual colour:
Pouring WS Realistic Water for a ditch and pond. When and how do you put in the plants?
Hi everyone,
I am looking for advice on how you install plants in and around water. Is this done during the pour/dry process or after the fact. I am doing cattails, lily pads, and fish "aluminum foil slivers." Any advice on this or ponds and swamps in general would be helpful.
Thanks.
Height of photo backdrops
My bench height is 54". The first one I have put up is 20" which seems too high. What height are the backdrops that others are using?

Looking for bumper ideas
Can anyone think of a source for some tractor tires that could be used as bumpers on a port scene? Since these are usually worn out tires, several different styles would certainly seem appropriate. I need them for HO scale, so it seems like tires up to O scale might work. Thanks in advance.
