Show me your M.T. Arms Hotel by Woodland Scenics

I am building a Woodland Scenics DPM kit of the M.T. Arms Hotel.  I would love to see some finished hotels so I might find some inspiration in painting it.  If you have one finished, would you mind taking a picture of it and sharing it?

Static Grass

Greetings,

I am having difficulty getting my static grass to look like any good.  I am using a TruePower Static Grass Applicator with Peco Basing glue.  I am  grounding correctly (I think) but either the grass lays flat or the screen gets clogged with grass.  (See pic)  I use the medium screen with 4mm grass and the large screen with 7mm grass, but the results are the same.  Bad.

Any suggestions?

Casting retaining walls - plaster or resin?

I'm going to be trying out casting for the first time, I need 4-5 linear feet of HO retaining wall/bridge abutments for my latest project layout. Making the molds from RTV, but in doing lots of reading it looks like I could go with either plaster or resin for the actual castings.

How do you support a vertical stand-alone backdrop.

I'm talking about a backdrop separating to sides on benchwork.  Say I want to install a piece of hardboard or Masonite 2 feet high but need to fix it on the bottom so it is supported vertically.  Are there brackets for that?  Screw the bottom into wood.  What works best?

Colour of structures, and perhaps lack of various colours?

On my layout set in 1956, I have few structures and only four colours exist on the layout - black, grey, white, and reddish brown.

I want to build a new shed like this, but wondering if a light blue would be realistic for my era.

Your thoughts?

I want to build a wood lasercut kit and I heard that it will look better and more realistic if I stain the parts right at the beginning. My question is what kind of products do you suggest me to use for staining parts?

Modern railroad served warehouse

Hi all

I'm wondering about the typical floor height in a modern railroad served warehouse.Presumably the warehouse is designed so that forklifts can place loads in the boxcar. Does this mean that there is a platform inside the warehouse at boxcar floor height or will the whole warehouse floor be at the same height?

I'm just about to scratch / kitbash a warehouse so just wondering if I need to put the floor at boxcar level or just closer to the natural ground level.

HO modern farmer figure

I've been looking for a good HO farmer figure.  I can find all sorts of farmers but there are clearly earlier eras or appear German.  Anyone make a US style farmer figure in HO that would be suitable for 2008 era?  A John Deere hat would be a nice bonus.
