Seeking recommendations on brick painting technique

Here is what I need to know. What good techniques are there for painting the brick insets in items such as the Walthers Geo Roberts Printing or American Hardware Supply. I've had some success in the (distant) past but also had some issues/limitations. Pictured here is my Walthers Tire Plant (same as Roberts Printing, plus other stuff).

Is temporary roof attachment possible?

I'm building several HO structures for our clubs modular layout. They are replacements for some modules (four 6' modules) that are showing their age after 30+ years of setting up, taking down, transporting and storage. The shells of the structures should be finished and attached to the modules before we need to setup next time. However, some of the interior details and lights may not be done.

how to prevent tape from pulling off flat painted roads

Hello fellow modelers,

I have a road that is dry wall mud covered, sanded and painted grey with flat acrylic . I need to know  the secret behind taping white traffic lines on the above without removing the grey road color.   Please let me know and thanx very much. Steve Klein

Wall color

I have decided to paint the walls in my train room blue. In taking the lazy way out, I would like to take a poll on the shade of blue that you used and are happy with. Please give me the paint manufacturer and shade color number.

I know that it seems like an odd request but there are so many shades of blue to choose from.

Weathering Wood (or Ties) using Dye and Alcohol

After searching across various sites about how to color or dye wood for a weathered look, I decided to do my own testing and post the results here complete with exact proportion details in case it would be helpful to others like me who were trying to do similar things.

For this test I used a full 32 oz bottle of 70% isopropyl alcohol mixed with 1 teaspoon of Fiebing's Black Leather Dye, in a cut open 1-gallon milk jug.

Plans for a small coaling tower

I want to scratchbuild a coaling tower for my HO scale layout engine facility which is set in the early 1940s but I have not been able to find any plans.  I am looking for one that has the coal come in a hopper car under the tower and off load to the side.  Also want to build it from wood.  Can you guys direct me to some plans?

Thanks

Techniques for modeling weathered particle board walls in HO

I've got a prototype garage that I am modeling where they walled up one of the garage doors using unpainted particle board.  Naturally it has weathered grey in the lower parts of the wall exposed to the weather.  Looks pretty bad but would make a great model.  Any suggestions for modeling particle board in HO scale?  I've done a search and not found anything.

Asphalt roads

Hi, I wanted to thank you for past articles and photos showing how to make realistic asphalt roads using foam sheets, spray paint and sponge paint.  The attached highway photo is a section on my HO layout that was done based on the photos and how-to instructions from MRH.

My club buddies were more than impressed with the results.  Thanks again.
