Turnout Wiring - Old Subject New Thread
Here's a thought, but I have zero experience so I need your feedback.

Decoder Pro
I recently installed the JMRI Decoder Pro on my laptop. The problem is that doesn't seem to be able to read "decoder type" on "new loco" screen. It times out after about 3 minutes with a "Error code 302" "programmer busy".
Even when I select the proper decoder and attempt to program the decoder it does the same thing.

Sound Installation into Vandy Tender, piggy-back decoder, dual speakers
I'm still very interested i going forward with this project (but need to my new layout running first). The subject came up in my mind recently when I acquired another VC-16 tender.

Best way to attach Txrail backsaver to ME ground throws?
I have a bunch of Micro Engineering HO switch stands that I would like to add Txrail backsavers to. What is the best way to modify these and attach the throw handle so it looks fairly correct and accurate? I've seen pictures so I know that people are doing it, but there isn't enough detail to tell exactly. Thanks.
Sectional Track
I was surprised to see in this document from The Association of American Railroads ( https://www.aar.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/AAR-Chronology-Americas-Freight-Railroads-Fact-Sheet.pdf ) that continuous welded rail (CWR) made its first appearance in the USA in 1933. I would have guessed much later.
More ESU issue (no lights)
I have two Scale Trains SD40-2, two LokPilot 5 and two LokSound 5 decoders. I want to replace the LokPilots with LokSounds which is easy enough except the lights won't work with the LokSounds. They work with the LokPilots. I tried the obvious combinations, decoder A in loco A (no lights), decoder A in loco B (no lights), decoder B in loco A, etc, etc, (no lights). The sound and drive functions seem to work. Is it a programming thing or two bad decoders or two bad somethings? The decoders show manufacture dates of March '19 and April 2020.
hand layed track
well i need to relearn how to lay my own track, and build turnouts, been many decades since i have done so.
on searching a number of web sites most use glue, not spikes. does this glue truly hold the rail to the ties? no drifting out of gauge? how long to "let it set"?
any here done so, please educate me.

Adding plugs to DCC wiring
Do any of you use some sort of plugs when you wire up DCC in your locomotives? What have you found works best (note: I'm in HO).
I'm using a DecoderBuddy Tiny in an Atlas MP15DC and both the rear (cab) headlight and the KA-4 (that I shoehorned into the cab) are permanently part of the shell - and I'd like to keep the shell fully detachable.
Wiring/Control Information Source
Hello,
40 years after my last layout in my parent's basement on a ping pong table, I am building a HO scale layout in my home office. Roughly 13' x 5', AnyRail says it has 72' of track. Being that its 2021, there is a plethora of information on any and all aspects of model railroading, and most of its well presented and easy to follow. Benchwork, laying track, scenery, etc. are pretty easy to understand, at least on the basic levels.
Motor needed for ore loader
I'm building a ore loader for live loads from my ore terminal. The design is based on the old Ulrich/Athearn loader offred many years ago. What I'm looking for is a small motor or servo that can on a button input make a 90 degree rotation. Hit the button again another 90 degree turn and so on. Only needs to operate in one direction. This is in HO scale and Woodland Scenics ore will be used as a load so weight is not really an issue. I tried the original Ulrich/Athearn idea with a servo replacing the lever mechanism but can't get it to work reliably .
