Decoder Pro and ESU Loksound V5 Issues

I bought a Rapido SW1200. It has ESU Loksound V5 sound decoder installed. When I opened up Decoder Pro to change the address there are no options for the V5 decoder. It has options for V4 and earlier. Am I missing something?

Proto ties & flex track!

As I was working on ballast, etc. it occurred to me that flex track ties are too much alike. Yes, we can apply paint or pastels or such to change color. But proto ties are not that uniform in shape or texture. So - what I need to ask is for those of you that have done something to make flex track ties look more prototypical. What can we do? Has anyone tried scratching them with a steel brush? Or something like that? I'd hate to be the one experimenting? Hoping that someone has already done some finessing of ties. Saving me from ruining my ties. Is this clear?

Keep alive versus frog juicers

Laying track on a new layout and was wondering if anyone has eliminated frog powering and just went with keep alives in their locos.

Seems like a viable option now and a lot cheaper and easier, less wiring and no juicer or switch for polarity needed.

Thoughts ??

TSU2: Quick Question

I have an Athearn Genesis GP7 that come with a factory installed TSU2 in it. When I turn on the power to the layout, it immediately sounds to life.

Do any of you know what CV # and value I need to change so that you have to select the loco and press a button before the sounds come up?

Plus, if any of you know of an online/downloadable comprehensive list of the CV #'s/etc for a TSU2, I can likely figure some of this out on my own without having to pester this forum.

Is Chip shortage affecting availability of DCC decoders

I was just speaking with a manufacturer who supplies decoders for loco's you purchase from the DCC ready as they've been out for the past month and finally got restocked.  It's not unusual for them to be out for a while and then get restocked but they did comment that they the shortage did seem to be affecting them.  They didn't tell me how many they requested but they didn't get as many as they ordered from ESU; the sort of good news was they weren't shorted as much as they thought they might be.

Experimenting with Arduino

The Arduino speedometer looks like an interesting project.  But one impediment is the custom panel with 7-segment displays and some buttons.

Dalee Electronics Yard Master and block wiring

Ok so how does one wire a dalee yardmaster to be used with dc block wiring?I would to engine 1 parked while using engine2.the yardmaster is connectedro a tech 2 and I would be using an atlas selector switch for block control.

Anyone know what this is? Is it a decoder?

I was going through my DCC decoder stash and I ran across this board. I have no idea what it is or where it came from?

Anybody know? Looks like it has a small SD card on the back. Wierd.

need a new tool - wire stripping

i need a better way to cut and strip my dcc wires. smallest striper i can find is way too large, who sells one that can strip such small wire? as i tend to just cut more wire trying to remove the insulation.
