Track and electrical/DCC
Has anyone tried or is using headphone-based sound?
I know this idea has been out there for a few years and even has been mentioned on this board. This one has been rolling around in my head for quite some time and I want to decide whether to go ahead with the idea before I buy another locomotive.
An explanation of the idea can be found here https://lancemindheim.com/about-us/wireless-headphone-sound/

Double Slip Turnout observations, Roco & Peco (including unifrog)
I've been working on a new track plan for my steel-mill / freight-yard scene. While doing so I included a double slip turnout. My original thoughts turned naturally to a Peco one since those are the great majority of turnouts I am using on my layout.
I discovered a few things yesterday while inspecting things in a little more detail
location,..
DCC forward headlight in a reverse consist won't light
OK, now what am I doing wrong? Someday I will get a handle on DCC programing, I just don't do it often enough to remember much.

powering points/frogs
In several threads I have seen gaps between frogs and points
my hand laid turnouts I'm starting to build are long curved ones, and I have soldered a lead to the frog , kept the points/wing rails whole, gapped the frog beyond the lead , and cut the foil on the pc throw bar. This will let the frog and both points be powered by the micro switch on the linkage, but only one point will be touching its stock rail.
Is there any reason to isolate the two points from each other? I requires two more wire connections.
Which resistor?
Any suggestions as to which resistor I should use for Miniatronics 1.2mm Micro Mini-Lamp 1.5V for use on a Digitrax DH165A0 decoder.
Thanks in advance

Earl R Eshleman's, thru-deck, turnout linkages
Sometime ago I purchased a small number of these brass turnout links. I did not know what I really had until recently while doing an google image search I ran into a few links on ebay that were selling some. These are very nicely made, and look more versatile than I first imagined.
ESU Programming with a Decoder Buddy installed
Looking for some input on programming an ESU decoder that was installed with a decoder buddy with the ESU LokProgrammer. First time dealing with this set up. I was having some issues getting my LEDs to stay solidly lit, they would flicker so I don't necessarily have them in "standard" assignments. But here is where I'm at. I have the headlights in the typical spots, AOf and AOr. I have front and rear ditch lights wired in as follows:
Front Right Ditch Light - A4
Front Left Ditch Light - A2

Purchasing Music Wire for Switch Machines and Animation
I'm working on improving the operation of my HO scale switch points by upgrading the wire that came with my tortoise switch machines from 0.025 to 0.032 or 0.039 music wire. Regardless of how closely I inspect the points for obstructions, I can't always find what is causing extra resistance to the movement of the points in my Proto 87 Fast and Easy Code 70 turnouts.

ME code 83 HO gauge flex tie dimensions
I've been searching the net for half an hour or more trying to find out what the tie dimensions and spacing are for ME code 83 HO flex (wooden ties). I'm really aggravated by the number of times I've seen the description of the stuff as "scale ties". Well, what is that exactly?
