Track and electrical/DCC

1 grade crossing that will be fully automated
I plan on to have (for a start) only one fully automated grade crossing. I want to use the Walthers signals, can anyone suggest me what to use as for circuit board, optical detector, etc
I might also consider doing all my accessories on dc, with a separate power pack, is this a good idea?
I am in DCC as for track and locos

Tsunami vs. Revolution
OK, this isn't to start one of those Digitrax vs. NCE things or HO vs. N, I'm just curious as to experiences people have with the Soundtraxx Tsunami vs. the QSI Revolution. I've read the QSI documentation for the Revolution that will fit nicely in an HO loco that I have and it seems to have more features than the Tsunami, or at least they are maybe better documented. Both companies are obviously going to promote their product as the best sounding decoder, but what has some of your experiences been?

Programming A Tsunami - Speed Table and trying to sync engine revs with speed and headlights
OK, I'm trying to tweak my newly installed sound decoder so the engine revs up just as the loco starts to move. What I get now is the loco moves, then about a second or so later, the engine revs up. Same thing when slowing down, the loco will be stopped and it takes a second or two for the engine to return to idle. Is my problem with the engine notch rate or the speed table, or just not getting the balance right? Any advice on getting these to match up better would be appreciated.
Rule of thumb for track and expansion?
How many thousands of an inch should I leave between flex track sections to alow for expansion and contraction? I seem to remember someone using a "credit card" once.
Thanks

Curved Yard Radius Question
I am designing my version of the AC&Y yard at Brittain. It is a curved yard and so shall mine be. A recent article in the dead tree publication states 48" minimum radius for relaible coupling/uncoupling in a curved yard. I have space for a much larger radius but want to emphasize curved appearance for effect. Hence do not want to unnecessarily increase the radius. HO, 60's-70's era freight on the rails, no passenger, no steam, track centerline spacing flexible.

What DCC system do you use - and why?
I'm curious what DCC system various modelera on here are using, and why? I think the discussion could be useful - so post a bit about the system you use and how you came to chose it. Also if you have any interesting learnings, that's always helpful!
circuitron tortoise Price question
I have found a place with a 12 pack $160 delivered to my house. That seems like a very good price to. Any better?

DC Power supply
Hello everyone, from Burton Ohio. My first post here, as I spend most of my time trying to absorb as much as I can from this forum and MRH. The things you guys have created are unfathomable to me, I am in awe of the detail and creativity..... My set up is not based on anything in particular. It's a 4X8 ho scale able to run two trains at a time. I named the businesses after my kids. (ie. Audrey's Cafe, sam's Pet store, etc) I thought this would keep my kids interested.

Athearn MP15 Decoder problems
I have a Athearn MP15 that I bought used at a swap meet last year and I'm having some decoder issues that I can't seem to fix using Decoder Pro. Plus, no instruction sheet was included unfortunately. Here's the problem:
DCC Reverse Loop Question
I'm in the process of building a DCC layout that has one reverse loop with a passing siding coming into it and a spur leading off of it (total of two turnouts within the loop. I know how to wire a pure loop but not one with the above. I'm planning on using a Lenz automatic reversing unit. Would someone explain how this is done? Thanks.
