Speed in DCC

Being new to DCC I'm curious as to the top speed for engines. I'm not looking to get the speed that I can with DC but it seems that my engines are running at about 15-20% of what I would like. How can I bring up the speed? Thanks John

Rail-bars/joiners (the superdetailing-part type) question HO

Hello everyone,

I have been looking for some time now at rail-bars for my tracks (HO scale). Specifically on the code 83 ABS plastic style by Details West (local availability) and despite my reading around i still got some questions.

Q1. For Peco code 83 track , will i be needing to modify the bars so that i don't have any flange issues (RP25 wheels)? Will i need to trim off any molded spikes from the Peco tracks/ties so that they fit?

Q2. Can the 6-bolt ones be cut to length so that they match the 4-bolt ones? My prototype used 4-bolt.

New YouTube Videos dealing with installing Peco turnouts and the twistlock motor

I’ve posted a couple of new videos dealing with installing Peco turnouts.  The first video demos how to prepare your Peco turnout for installation on a DCC layout.  I took the good descriptive info from a couple of sites and turned that into a “how-to” video.  We show you how to add some jumpers to the turnout to improve electrical connectivity and, in the case of electrofrogs, point out the importance of snipping the 2 connecting wires under the turnout that come from the factory.  Here’s the link:

DCC Guides by Tony Richardson

In my attempt to add a shortline (On30) to my O-scale, never having used DCC, I found this site from Tony Richardson that appeared to have everything I would ever want to know about DCC in one bundle of E-Books.

So I ordered them (last month).  I have 22 attempts, sent 4 written requests, 3 site messages and cannot get a response from Tony's site.  The E-books will not link, the link to the email instruction will not activate and no one has responded to any request since taking my money.

Help and Advice needed, building a turnout

I recently made some Gauntlet track and to make it, I had to cut a pare of turnouts in half.  I still have the other halves of the turnouts with the points on them.  What I also have is a need for some slip switches.  So I’m thinking about building a single slip switch from scratch using the leftover turnout parts from the Guantlet track.  Does anyone have any advice for building such track pieces?  Thank you

Automatic interlocking

I have a situation where I need automatic turnout control. It's a one track to two track remote interlocking . Coming from the single track to double I want the turnout thrown reverse for right hand running. Until the train clears the interlocking I want the turnout to be reversed. Once the West bound has cleared if the next traffic is eastbound I want the turnout to go normal and hold until the train clears. If the next train is westbound I want it to remain as it is. While I do have  remote ctc dispatching I have no room on my ctc board to add this . Any ideas ?

NCE Panel Question

I see NCE has a number of panels that are used on the fascia of layouts for connecting controllers to around the layout.  I have the NCE Power Cab starter set and I've now got a second N scale layout to power.  I assume there is a panel I can buy (with walwart) that I can connect to the new layout and just switch my Power Cab between the two layouts, but I'm not sure which one will do this (assuming one will).

I tried sending NCE an email but haven't heard a response back in some time so thought I would ask here.

Thanks in advance.

Operation of Dual Mode Decoders on DC?

How good is the slow speed operation of dual mode decoders on Direct Current (DC)? Can you get an engine to crawl?

If lighting effects (Rule 17) have been programmed on the decoder, will they work in DC?

Consist sound control

In a consist I'm trying to get sound control to consist address. (HO Scale Trains SD40-2). Program to consist address at cv21 to1, get bell and horn but no motor sound. ??
